Iran and almost every single nation in the region has attacked Israel or fought with it's neighbors for the same sorts of reasons we do now.

China and India need land based oil pipelines to sustain themselves the history of trade abuse and the inability to get along and allow west and east to trade effectively goes back to the silk road, the stability in the region has never been maintained among these people ever in the history of the world.
