Bill Cosby "I'm 74 and Tired"
"I'm 74 and Tired" Worth reading...

This should be required reading for every man, woman and child in Jamaica,
the UK , United States of America , Canada , Australia and New Zealand

"I'm 74 and I'm Tired"

I'm 74. Except for brief period in the 50's when I was doing my National
Service, I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for some serious
health challenges, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly
40 years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my
income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as
though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who
don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take
the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy
to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I
can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and
daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight
offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and jewish people because they aren't
"believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning
teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the
genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and
Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let
Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques
and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia , New Zealand ,
UK, America and Canada , while no one from these countries are allowed to
fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other
Arab country to teach love and tolerance..

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global
warming, which no one is allowed to debate.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help
support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ
rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses
or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off?

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all
parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful
mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting
caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and
actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination
or big-whatever for their problems.

I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and
early 20's be-deck them selves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making
themselves un-employable and claiming money from the Government.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 74. Because, mostly, I'm not
going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for
my granddaughter and her children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not
on the way in.

For the most part, I totally agree with him.

HOWEVER, Cosby is one of so many people who had the opportunities to become famous and wealthy and privileged and safe and secure.

There are millions upon millions of decent, smart, sensible people who would greatly appreciate that kind of wealth and privilege and would use it wisely, but they just didn't have the opportunities, they weren't in the right place at the right time or whatever.

Cosby is intellectually insightful, no doubt, but it's a shame that so many other intelligent and insightful people will never have the chances he had, accumulate the wealth he has, and have the venues he has to speak their minds.

There’s an email floating around – entitled “I’m 76 and tired” – purportedly sent by me. I did not write the email, I did not send the email, I’m not 76, and I don’t subscribe to the ugly views expressed in the email.

Re: Bill Cosby "I'm 74 and Tired"
I don't think you understand where Bill comes from. Bill Cosby grew up in North Philadelphia one of the poorest and violent areas of the country. How come people believe that there is some fairy that hands out opportunity. The truth is you make your own opportunity. The American Dream is to have the opportunity to be or do whatever you want through your own effort. The American Dream is not a guarantee of success. Whoever says that they didn't have the opportunity to succeed is somebody that was afraid to take the risk of failure to succeed.

For those of you that feel they were jipped by fate you have to ask yourself, what did you do to be successful? When you had the choice to study or watch TV what did you do? When you were offered drugs did you take them or did you pass? I bet there isn't a professional athlete out there that didn't work harder than their peers to make it.

I have a nephew that was a baseball prodigy. He had several professional teams and had his choice of top baseball colleges courting him while still a Junior in High School. Why isn't he a pro ball player? He let his grades go from B's to D's his senior year; all the colleges withdrew their offers of scholarships. West Chester University decided to give him a chance. Well, the team did weight training; my nephew blew it off along with most of his classes. The Coach talked the University into putting him on probation his second semester and he didn't change. My nephew if you asked him will tell you that he should be in the pros but he didn't receive the same breaks a black athlete did, nothing was his fault.

There are so many people that have "made it" that came from nothing they just didn't accept what society told them they were. I'm not rich; I put myself through college by joining the military, and when I see a successful person drive down the street in there 760 BMW I don't resent them I celebrate them because I know that one day with God's help, I'll be that person. So enough with this Barbra Streisand about being at the right place at the right time get out there and make it happen for you.

Cosby is a tiresome boring selfish self-congratulatory arrogant limited cocksucker.

Cosby's generation had it pretty good. Post WWII, industrial boom, a lot of them didn't have to go to war and retired with pensions and were paid enough to raise a family on one income.

I sort of resent some of the arrogant fucks from his generation who think they were geniuses to retire with so much money. They don't know how good they had it.

GLPer "I'm 54 and Tired"

This should be required reading for every man, woman and child in Jamaica,

"I'm 74 and I'm Tired"
"I'm 54 and I'm Tired"

I'm 74. Except for brief period in the 50's when I was doing my National
Service, I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for some serious
health challenges, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly

income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as
though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.

GLPer: I'm 54. Except for a brief period in the 70s when I was going to University (and working), I've worked hard since I was 16. Except for some serious health challenges, I put in 70 to 80 hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 42 years. I made a lousy salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was just a stupid idea, and I'm tired. Very very tired. Especially since I'm not yet able to retire in any shape or form...

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who
don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take
the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy
to earn it.

"I'm tired of people who think that because they made tons of money in their particular trade then it is right to believe other people who didn't make a fortune have no work ethic. I'm pleased to hear the government might take the money these types have earned for doing nothing substantial but f*ck around in Hollywood like lazy bums because they had the gift of the gab, and give it to people who worked hard (likely doing things like cleaning your swimming pool, cleaning your house and babysitting your kids) and who didn't sleep with studio directors or make friends in high places."

"I'm tired of racist pr*cks who should know better, particularly those whose own racial history is ripe with injustice, labeling every single Muslim as if they were "all" radicals and not understanding that their blind hatred damages and hurts lots of innoccent men, women and children and completely ignores those (the majority) who do interpet the Qur'an non-literally."

"I'm tired of idiots who don't understand that when they write things like this they're promoting hatred but that that is actually a prerogative of free speech which they and everyone else has a right to. I'm also tired of idiots who promote churches in any way shape or form. They've obviously done nothing beneficial in all these generations and anything they may do does not apologize for the wars and suffering religion has caused throughout history."

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global
warming, which no one is allowed to debate.

"I'm tired of old farts with money who don't even know the meaning of the word sacrifice and couldn't even begin to debate intelligently anyway, what with their heads up their arses."

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help
support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ
rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses
or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off?

"I"m tired of silly old men who don't understand that just because they had loving parents and a stable home doesn't mean everybody starts with the same deck of cards. That's just naive and stupid."

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all
parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful
mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting
caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

"I'm not so sure I disagree with that one, given that it is coming from one of the entitled who lived through America's boom years, which will never be seen again."

I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and
actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination
or big-whatever for their problems.

"I'm tired of silly old people naively suggesting that government and/or big business is so perfect it has never done anything to cause blame. I'm also tired of token black comedians from the 60s and 70s suggesting that discrimination was not a part of their struggle and is completely not an issue anymore for the succeeding generations. How much is forgotten. Such shallow thinking must be a function of money..."

I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and
early 20's be-deck them selves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making
themselves un-employable and claiming money from the Government.

"I'm tired of stupid people who don't realize that there ARE no jobs for 20 somethings. It's not the same freakin' world they are living that you chanced into in your time you old fart."

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 74. Because, mostly, I'm not
going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for
my granddaughter and her children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not
on the way in.

"Yes. I am damn tired too. Delighted to be 54 to see how strong this generation will become. I'm also sorry for your granddaughter and her children... because they're related to such a shallow, forgetful, bigotted, uneducated, privileged old fart."

Jesus. You make us proud NOT
