Why would you post such as this? You cannot possibly state you feel bad for those who personally witnessed this and then, in good conscience, post this. Even with your warning which could be construed as an invitation.

no one give a shit, take your censorship values elsewhere, your country is a fucken mess. when someone was murdered on the tracks all you can think about is if someone feels bad?

grow the fuck up or get off this planet, now!

Someone has to cut the power before they can bag the body, numbnuts. The witnesses, the people there, are still responsible for not letting a train run over a body. They're still totally responsible for following subway emergency procedure and hitting the fucking power cut.

I hope someone's in a position to save your life one day, and then decides they can't be fucked to do it.

yes, its clear from the video there was enough time for someone to push the power cut off button.

all those on the platform that day committed murder.

That was FAR from funny, and anyone who found it amusing is an imbalanced sociopath who spends too much time playing desensitizing video games/and or watches too much violent media and has lost their human empathy.

Sucks to be you, but I would imagine it sucks even more to be in a relationship with you.

The bystanders are responsible for a persons decision to jump of the subway platform, resisit help, and then jump onto a power line? Stupid twist in logic IMO.

Bottom line, don't jump onto the tracks, when people are trying to help then get the help rather than resist, don't touch the third rail. It took a lot of stupidity in his part to get where he is. No one to blame but himself.

Yes, power has to be cut. The switch on the platform only cuts it for a certain amount of minutes. Then it's back on, automatic.

You can't blame the people, they are largely clueless in these situations.

Even the Transit Bureau police are'nt going down on the tracks, they will wait for ESU, as that's what ESU is trained for.

Once he chose to lay back on the rail, it was a done deal. It may sound callous, but that's the truth.

They are adults, but unfortunately they are not accustomed to traumatic situations where they can react while still keeping their heads about them.

The guy simply made his decision. He could have walked to the end of the platform and take the track worker steps up to the platform.

Dear UK

You have some real free floating anger I think............LOL

There was no 'censorship' as you put it. There was a comment as to his remark regarding people who witnessed this event felt and then he goes and posts the recording of it which makes little sense. No one suggested that he could not post it.

Sorry you have problems with this country instead of the mess this entire world is in but that is another matter, neither you nor I can solve. In the meantime have a great life, my dear.

This was NOT a suicide. Who the fuck stumbles and trips into something on purpose?

And your point is invalid; even if the power cut is only effective for a few minutes, which you've merely speculated here, DID YOU SEE ANYONE TRY? DID YOU SEE IT GO OFF FOR EVEN A MINUTE? Don't be a total dumbass, there is absolutely no reason why one of those gawking witnesses couldn't have run for a cutoff switch, an operator, the intercom, or any of the OTHER expensive shit they put into subways to keep this kind of thing from happening.

There is no excuse for this degree of inaction and sheer uselessness from the witnesses involved, period. Trains have been known to derail on bodies, they're also equally responsible for the lives of the people ON THE NEXT TRAIN.

As for the power off button on the platform, it IS only cut for a few minutes from that switch. It's not speculation. Permanent power has to be cut from a central location, on authority from Police, Fire, EMS, Transit Wokers, etc.

This individual was a homeless psycho, as many of them are, intermittently dangerous, psychotic, etc. Unpredictable.

So you admit he stumbled into the third rail, and you still imply it's a suicide?

Don't you think a few minutes of power off would have been enough to move the body, possibly save his life, or give the transit system a chance to shut down permanently?

Don't you realize the power has to go off to remove the body, no matter what?

Don't you realize everyone on the next train is in danger too?

I can totally understand how all of these things have flown over your head, as I bet you're too busy enjoying your Schadenfreude, but the above points pale in comparison to the fact that you are assuming this individual is a danger to others, a psycho, and deserving of death while having absolutely ZERO authority to pass judgement on a stranger you know FUCK ALL about. He could have been a psycho, he also could have been a saint.

How dare you assume anything about a stranger, and furthermore try to justify your prejudices after the fact?

Like I've stated: I hope a stranger has the opportunity to save your life one day, and then decides not to bother. The only tragedy is you'd be too dead to appreciate the life lesson.

No danger to people on next train; train enters slow enough, it was a local track.

Power must be off; it must be off from a central location to move the body. The track switch only stops it temporarily. The rail must be checked, in any event, by ESU or FD to INSURE it's off.

Whether suicide or not is irrelevant. There is a procedure to be followed, to insure no one else is killed via his body and the electricity passing thru it.

So just calm down there, Sparky.

He is on the tracks, no shirt on, incoherent. He is a danger; a big danger.

These types have a habit of tossing people onto the tracks in NYC.

You want to be a hero and play games with this guy on the tracks? Be my guest.

Subway tracks are very dangerous; they are more dangerous with a psycho like that on them. ESU likely would have had to taser him to get him off the tracks.

Well actually...

Look, I don't know what the safety standards are where you live, but I live in Toronto and we have a large subway system similar to (but not as big as) New York's.

OUR safety cutoff buttons actually cut track power AND trip the automatic braking systems on the subway cars. This can only be DISABLED by a transit worker after the incident has been investigated.

The systems are designed to save lives if people get caught in the doors of a train, or on the tracks. EVERYTHING in that station section shuts down until someone over-rides it.

BUT ONCE AGAIN THE POINT IS NOT ONE PERSON BOTHERED TO HIT THE DAMN CUTOFF SWITCH IN THE FIRST PLACE SO I GUESS WE'LL NEVER KNOW BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE USELESS.

All these enraged replies for the bystanders to "push the cut-off button".

Clearly they didn't know there's a cut-off switch or they would have hit it. I didn't know there was one until reading this thread.

Don't get pissed at folks who obviously wanted to help but didn't know what to do.

I'm glad to know now that such a switch exists and will be looking for it whenever I'm at the subway in case of emergency.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I've never seen the switch either. You would think it would have huge arrows and multiple languages around it or something to draw attention.

Well, I did my best to explain how the NYC transit system works.
