This is getting so out of hand.

We need to outlaw trains immediately.

Who wants to work with me on starting up a massive anti-train campaign?

This man couldn't have been helped. No way would I be grabbing hold of a man who's that close to the 3rd rail...needless to say, I wouldn't be going over to pull him off once he'd turned himself into a human light bulb.

Good samaritan help stops short when my life is put in danger by a drunken idiot.

drunk + dead = dead3

They call people like you cowards, who die in retirement homes because their children abandoned them, and then we see cowards like you going to shopping malls and annoying people because you have no one to talk to, because you know, you are a coward and no one wants to be around cowards, not even your own offspring.

Just pray to god that your children one day doesn't follow the culture of binge drinking and end up in the same mess, don't worry, I won't be making fun of your children's death, because I'm not a coward, if I see your children in the same situation, I would risk my life helping them.

If a couple of real men would have just gave him a hand up off the tracks as soon as he went down there before he got over to the 3rd it all could have been avoided. Pathetic bunch of loosers you have all become!

I call bleeding hearts like you Darwin-award fodder. Go grab him off the rail. See what happens. I'll make sure to video-tape it and immortalize you on GLP later.

:suckit:

Another over smart coward. You do know you were criticizing the girl who was trying to help a man in need? You think she did the wrong thing to try to save that guy from electrocuting himself? If that guy was your son, and if I tried to help your son, you would call me stupid for trying? Then again, cowards like you would say anything to help yourself sleep at night.

Cowards like you know very well you wouldn't help anyone, I wonder if you would help your own son in that situation? Would you help your son if he was in the tracks? Would you at least try to pull him out? Or would you just stand by and watch.

Exactly my point FFS! He was no where near the other side when the women were holding his hands trying to coach him up. They had a reason to be be afraid but a couple of MEN could have easily gave him a hand up...good grief!

^^ this.... in my last job I had to go and get a woman who was walking the tracks on the C2C line... the train was stopped... we went to get her... escorted her back up to the platform where she wailed and cried about how she wanted to die etc etc... We were walking to the van when the train was permitted to start... the crazy woman almost took me and my partner into the tracks with her. If the platform had been wet or frozen we would have too...

We had to hog tie her for our own safety :o(

She did say sorry later but MAN... nothing would see me bending over to help someone drunk / suicidal if they were on the tracks... sorry but I have family waiting for me back home just as much as the suicidal/drunk chap has!

I would have however run to the fire alarm and sounded it and looked for the emergency phone which is on every station here.

Alternatively throwing an umbrella or trash can on the track is enough here to short the tracks and stop the flow..

I haven't watched the video but I can only hope he was SO drunk he felt nothing :o(

OF COURSE he would.... But you don't KNOW who the chap is or what his intentions are do you? It's not 'normal' to be IN the track... Everyone fears it...

we are guessing he was drunk... he may have been off his head or in the middle of an excited delerium episode... 4 men wouldn't have been able to have helped him in that case...

We only have a mobile 'phone video and some hearsey to go by with this one...

No need to hate on people posting when they say they wouldn't be happy to yank him out...

Falling on to electrified tracks while drunk, falling off of a high building while drunk, or crashing a car while drunk, it was a very bad day for all who had to witness it and for those who had to clean up the mess. The man was totally responsible and paid the ultimate price for his actions. What would have been more sad is if others had died trying to rescue him.

I wont watch the video.. I have seen enough tragedy in real life, I don't need to watch it to know what it looks like or what it feels like to have to go and pick up bits of body from the tracks..

The only reason why I got upset is because someone criticised the woman who was actually trying to pull him out, "if you're a coward, don't criticize others for not being one".

That's my point. If you can live with not helping someone in need, if your conscious can handle watching someone die while you not even trying to help, then I have nothing against you, just don't expect others to help you, or the ones close to you when you're in need of help.

Not ONE of those stupid fucking witnesses went to the power cutoff button, tried the help intercom, or went up to the ticket booths to have someone cut the power?

FUCKING IDIOTS.

Go ahead and say he was drunk/homeless/crazy/whatthefuckever. The point still remains there's a goddamn body on the tracks and shit needs to be shut down.

There's nothing I hate more than useless little shits who just stand around and scream.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1044523

..and film.

they are all guilty of murder any one of those persons on the platform could have hit the emergency power cut off as soon as the obviously intoxicated/mentally ill guy was on the the tracks.

i say try them for murder.

teach you all to be a bit smarter.

there was no accident about this.

it could have been avoided.

How can a senseless man be responsible for his actions? If you're extremely intoxicated you're not fully conscious, it is like sleep walking, how can you claim you're responsible for that?

Alcoholism is regarded as a sickness, a mental disorder, a sick man is not responsible for his actions. When someone is mentally ill, then the court usually sends him for treatment, and not to prison. Then again, I don't know how the law works in USA.

The man was clearly not in his senses, right?

I'm ABSOLUTELY criticizing that woman. She likely has a family and kids she needs to worry more about than this ignora-moose. And stop using the "what if it was your son" argument. Typical bleeding heart logic.
It wasn't my son...it was an idiot.

And I'm glad that he snuffed himself. That way, he'll be unable to procreate. Does that sound too harsh to you? Well, that simple law of nature contributed to all of the favorable attributes in your human body. If you're too stupid to keep yourself from dying in this manner, you don't deserve to pass your genetic material along.

Stop trying to make me feel bad for this man. I don't. Those of us who stay well away from danger such as this will continue to find ways to survive, fuck, and reproduce. You'll be the one continuously trying to ensure the survival of those who don't deserve it at the potential cost of your own demise.

Hopefully I didn't offend you with what anything I said.

What I found most shocking was when the person who was recording said, "why isn't anyone doing anything".

At that point my blood started boiling, there was at least 10 people there, if everyone tried helping in one way or another, like you said, "find any alarms" etc.. But what we saw was just one woman who was trying to help, it is really upsetting.

A life could have been saved, and when that life is saved, it could have changed that sick man's life, he is obviously sick, I've worked with drugs and alcohol programs, so I know all about this stuff.

Some times that one event can change your life, that's where the term "life changing event" comes from.

It doesn't even matter, because all of our lives are sacred and worth protecting. He may have been drunk, drugged, insane(most homeless are), ill, retarded, or any number of things, but that is a mute point. The fact of the matter is, that he was leaning against the platform initally, well over 12 to 15 feet away from the 3rd rail and could have been easily lifted up by a couple of the chimps that decided to just leave him there for fotter. Of course once he stumbled off onto the tracks it was too late, but the situation was certainly avoidable. The imbecile onlookers could leave me blogging all day over their retarded comments, so I will just leave it alone.

Re: Drunken Man Electrocuted to Death on NYC Subway (Video is Graphic) Dont watch if you dont want to see it!
I agree with the 'not even trying to help' it sounds like no one did anything but gawp..

That's unforgivable and very sad.... Wouldn't one be screaming, shouting for help, trying to find any alarms, switches, ANYTHING?

I guess not in this case :o(

Absolutely.. I agree.

I didn't know the bit in red as I hadn't watched it... that is stupidly ironic.. why didn't he HELP instead of thinking what a youtube coop this would be?

And no you haven't offended me. ;-)

What I am trying to say to some of the "They're all cowards for not pulling him up" guys is we don't actually know the facts of this event. What happened before? What was his problem? etc etc...

I would 100% do SOMETHING but leaning over to grab a guy is not one of them... I cant be the only person to have witnessed excited delirium here?

I think acting on impulse is more for people who are naive and I mean that with utmost respect... I've seen and been to incidents that have changed how I deal with things.

One of the first things they teach you when you join the police is YOUR safety first and always... yeah sure we sometimes forgot that but that's life.

And I have saved lives and protected vulnerable people in dangerous situations.... so I wont wear the coward hat thank you! lol

Maybe we do things different in Texas, but if I were there, I would have jumped down and tried to help him up. I just don't get what has happened to society... WTF is wrong with these people who just sit around with their cameras out?
