Let me add to that that people getting electrocuted in the London tube or Paris metro is far more common than in NYC.

I was electrocuted to death
it was great, but rather sad
being dead was fun, didn't have a clue what happened during or after, when they asked me how i died, I couldn't tell them, even on a return trip a year or so later, still didn't know, and I didn't even realize that it had happened before.

Now coming back and living amongst my good friends and neighbours, brothers and sisters, and lovely people all around the world, that really sucked.

Our tube stations are slowly (too slowly) being converted to have suicide doors... I'm sure that isn't the correct term for them but it's a glass wall with doors that ONLY open after the doors on a train open :o)

One, that isn't going to help. Two, Britain has the worst electrical system in the world with its wonderful loop system, there are plenty of nice ways to kill yourself there by electrocution really easily. Three, there already have been accidents with these doors malfunctioning or people getting sandwiched between the door and train. And you don't really need to be superman to force these doors open (They have no interlocking system to prevent movement when closed and there's no interlock between the door and the train) and eventually annoying maintenance issues will arise which always tends to be ignored or bypassed.

These comments make me very sad. Look how much people assume.

To ME, this didn't look at all like a guy who was simply drunk. He looked like he had been homeless for some time (judging by his attire).

Maybe he lived down there like many do.

I know the tunnels under the casinos in Vegas are PACKED with homeless.

How many were vacationers? After all, there are very few and by the comments most locals knew the trains would be running late.

I've visited NYC several times. I sure as hell don't know about buttons to press, or third rails, etc.

I can only assume by that big yellow line that your probably not supposed to step further than that point while waiting for a train.

I just wonder how many people would have passed this same guy had they seen him on the street begging for change to buy a decent meal.
