Hey I need some advice !!
So I have an apartment and am living by myself and I have a job only bout 60 hours every two weeks. The place is in my sisters name but she is living with her ex and has a baby. I don't have a car either. My sister does but it is in the shop and the people she is living with blackmailed her by saying you have to get rid of the apartment in order to fix her car we are on a very tight budget I'm pretty much poor ! I lost my mom 3 years ago and the family grew away . So I wouldnt have a place to stay I would be in a difficult situation what can I do ? I'm 24 what can I tell my sister ?

Why not just try talking to your property management company , with your sister, and see if you can't get the lease switched over to your name ?

Is that what you're worried about ?

First off, I would like to say you picked the right place to get advice.

Now here is what you need to do. Take a hug shit by the front door everyday. That way nobody will want to try to evict you.

I hope things get better for you, OP. Can you look for a better job? It helps if you already have a job to find a better one. You're young and you don't have any children, so you have to ability to do all kinds of work that a person more tied down wouldn't be able to do. Keep trying. Life can be an adventure or torture, but either way, we all have to work somehow.

But it's not her job to support you. If she's so broke that she can't pay for her car repairs then obviously you're imposing. Get a second job or replace the job you have now. Rent that room.

What you're really saying when you boil it down is I want to live beyond my means, how can I convince my sister to help me do that?

She has a child, don't you see how selfish it is to take away from what she could be doing for her child to help you when instead you could simply live within your means?

Hmm, well, have you tried looking for a part-time job to supplement your income ?

I had to do it a year or so ago when I had a housemate who moved out with 2 days warning and stuck me with a bunch of bills and 800$ a month in rent.

It sucked, but I did what I had to do to keep a roof over my head.

Good luck whatever you do !

Dude, ..listen, I had one job, cooking, from 7 or 8 am till 9 at night, then went to my second job at 10 and cooked until 3, then got out at about 4:30 am, then walked home, in wet shoes, in the winter time, about 5 miles.

2 days a week I did this, on weekends, then worked my other job during the week. Slept very little from Friday to Sunday morning.

My landlord wouldn't fix my heater, so I had to pay for oil, but had no heat, and also no refrigerator in the house.

It sucked, but I did what I had to and eventually got something much, much better.

I'm sure you can pull it off if I can

Hahaha, I spent the previous winter living in the woods in a shelter I built.

... I'm kind of a freak, but anyways,.. it doesn't sound like you have too bad of a bad situation at all, you just need some more $$.

Is your property management company a mega-company, or is it a smaller outfit, or family-run ?

If it's a small company, you might be able to work out some trade if you go to them and ask for some help, you could mow/weedeat, clean gutters, etc. Whatever.

Most of the time I find that if you just go to people and ask for help, they'll help you if you explain your situation.

If they won't, then at least you are aware enough of the situation that you can start to plan ahead.

If there's anything I've learned, it's always have at least 1 or 2 contingency plans in case things don't work out in your favor.

Yeah, quitting drinking, that helps, lol. I used to be a hardcore drinker and was always broke as a joke, no matter how much $$ I happened to be making.

I also eat about one meal a day, maybe a few snacks sometimes, so my food expenses are few.

Learn to cook, if you don't know how already, that alone will save you big bucks, or if you get a job in foodservice, you can eat for free a good portion of the time, employee meals, etc.

Idk man, try working so much you don't have time to do anything but sleep, and do that until you get some savings built up, then lay back for a bit.

Make your own brew/hooch if you want to save money on alcohol, or just quit altogether. Hooch is as easy as a couple of cups of sugar in a gallon of water and a packet of baker's yeast, lol. Dump some koolaid or fruit juice to flavor it. Dirt cheap if that's really what you want.

Well, you know, there's that old saying: " The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first few steps "

Everything after that is just putting one foot in front of the other.
