THIS HEAT IS HELLISH HOT!!!

108 with the heat index here...44% humidity. Near Appleton Wisconsin...

Gonna be some wicked lightning storms all summer, maybe even bad hail too.

Expected temp of 101 with heat index of 110 in Maryland tomorrow! The UV index has been a 10 for the past 5 days which is also crazy. The scale only goes up to 11 btw..

So far we are in day 18 of this heat wave. UV Index of 10 today with peak temps 96 (about 17 above average).

The storms have been aggressive and numerous. Humidity is sick, face dripping saturated fog of heat.

The ground is so dry, we dumped our toddlers mini-pool in the grass......soaked it up before it could run off even just a little.


I did get to see nice heat lightening above Ohio during the 4th Fireworks. Must have been huge storm cause the thundertops were seen all the way in Pittsburgh. Drove 2 hours to see the fireworks, worth it (we have AC in the van thank God)

The heat lightening was a deep pumpkin orange, really rare imho.

It's 88-90 right now with a heat index of 93 (70% humidity). Supposed to hit 94 actual temp. Tomorrow is supposed to get to 101. Sunday forecast 96. Excessive heat advisory in effect.

You go outside and the sweat just starts pouring...humidity so high, it won't evaporate for cooling effect.

I was thinking about this as I was outside sweating while ago.

I'm kinda old so...

I can clearly remember the 4th of July in 1976. I was 11 years old at the time. We had went to my cousin's house for the 4th, you know...cookout, go to fireworks that night.

They lived in Staunton, VA at the time and I remember it was 104 degrees. The asphalt was putting off so much heat you couldn't stand on it for more than a few minutes even with shoes on.

Just something I thought of.

There is something different about it.

Here in Illinois its been sweltering for days.

Like a friggin oven outside.

I want to cry over it.

Give me an ice cube.

heatwave? I was doing my fight sequence routine out under the sun a few hours ago, it's not that bad. It's super hot but it's not humid. This is a classic Phoenix arizona day

i thought i had this straight in my head but el nina is wet, el nino is dry...is what i thought from reading an australian report on it...now i'm confused.

and the headlines right under it say:

"The phenomenon increases Atlantic wind shear that can keep tropical systems from forming, decreasing the total number of storms during the June 1 to Nov. 30 season."

hey people one tiny thing you can do is provide water somehow for the birds. put it in the shade, and they prefer a basin type container to say a peanut butter jar. put water out for animals. bigger birds need it too, and cats or dogs squirrels etc.
