Are relationships really ment to last a life time?
I have been wondering about this lately.

I believe that people enter your life when there is something to be learnt between the two. Perhaps a lesson of love, forgiving, or letting go etc with the final result of becoming a supreme being/soul.

When the lesson is learnt there is nothing more to gain form the relationship and the two separate and continue their paths elsewhere. This applies to all forms of relationships.

Ever since i was young i have watched people get married only to end up splitting up. And i have only ever seen one marriage last till death, only 1.

It makes me wonder if 2 people are meant to spend a life together?

Perhaps years ago it was possible years ago, But with the greed, selfishness and materialism in this day and age, i think its a far fetch.

What are your thoughts about this?

It's common here for marriages to succeed and to last.

Except with some celebrities and well to do ones though.

Considering how very short our lives are, I find it absolutely pathetic that two people cannot care for each other until death.

Re: Are relationships really ment to last a life time?
So sad OP that this is the norm today. When I was a child and young person ....lots and lots of people were married for a lifetime. It was unusual not to be. Before the last couple of generations ...ALL THE WAY BACK...marriage and relationships lasted your FULL lifetime. End times signs again. lflash

Re: Are relationships really ment to last a life time?
Yes they are meant to last a lifetime because existence is primarily about longterm sustainability, not your petty little wants and emotions.

The family unit is what keeps humanity on the right track. It is what keeps people straight and narrow and healthy and well-adjusted. Look at our nation right now. It is screwed because the family unit has been undermined.

People who deny this are narcissists. Well I want my career. I want my pleasure. I want my own time. Sorry to say it is not about your sorry ass. The universe does not care about your special individuality. It cares about and rewards DUTY! And FORETHOUGHT! Intelligent people aren't thinking about tomorrow. They are thinking about a 1000 years from now.

When they do, they're meant to. When they don't, they're not.
:sun:Ardhanarishvara | You died, and death was complete freedom from suffering - bliss. But it very quickly got lonely and repetitive in bliss, so you decided to be born once more. You've been doing this forever.

Whilst I may not agree with what you say, I will defend to the death my right to disagree with you.

Some say "think outside the box". I say "what fucking box?!" xx:taosmilie:

If you keep telling yourself that and don't learn anything from your experiences, you'll be stuck coming back here. The only way out is to evolve and to evolve you must learn from experience and raise your consciousness.

Not spitting up doesn't mean it's successful...most people remain unhappy, they just don't have the courage to get divorced (Mostly because of kids).

Life is a lifelong learning-experience to reach as high as possible in knowledge, wisdom and true love. Only true love is unbreakable and therefore only the humans who make the effort to develop themselves into loving human beings are capable of true love.

All the others fail.

Yeah, I don't think there is any universal mandate regarding the longevity of relationships. They are as open ended as any other creative expression as far as how I see them.

They last as long as they are meant to.

Being holed up with anyone long term can have its bad effects.
