TSA Now Wants To Test Your Drinks- At The Gate!! | |

Dealing with drunks is the worst, especially in the air. But they won't eliminate the alcohol as long as the airlines and vendors in the airports are making hordes of money from it. I asked them why they didn't check the Coke guy when he delivered the stuff - if it was dangerous why wouldn't they stop it at the point of bringing it into the airport rather than the point of taking it out of the airport...... I was pretty miffed about it. |

That's what I am getting. Quoting: WindyMind My guess would be that they suspect that there may be people that would bring in some type of material that is inert until it is placed in a liquid. Either that or they are cracking down on drunks putting booze from the bar into their "soft drinks" and getting trashed on the flight. Mind you, these are just an educated guess. They understand why drinks are not allowed through security, but when they buy one while they wait for their flight, they say the TSA shouldn't ask to test it. Quoting: Sleeping Giant Passengers say traveling is a big enough stress, but now some are worried the drinks they are getting are not safe. The TSA wouldn't say what they're testing for or why they are doing it, but travelers say they have a right to know. "I'm always glad that my safety is a priority, I just think testing drinks after they've already been bought might be a little extreme," infrequent flyer Jennifer Smart said. "The water or or the juices or anything you buy here in the airport, TSA is going to come over and look and check and test it? That's just ridiculous," world traveler Thomas Burgard said. Then, they want to sample that same drink that you bought, at the airport, after you have already been thouroughly searched/patted down/fondled. Sounds to me that during training, the TSA people were told to check beverages at the gate, and some TSA idiot didn't realize they meant opened containers only. |

Circumstances were such I didn't have much choice so I flew. When I got to the checkpoint, I was shocked that EVERYONE was willingly going through the radiation machines and not opting out. Are Americans such suckup fucking sheep? wow. I opted out of course but didn't get a pat down because I was with a child under 12, They searched my bags though, and threw out the milk I had bought for my child. Then later when we were sitting at the terminal waiting to board, some lady came through and went beeline for us and had the dog sniff our bags. |

Why were you trying to bring milk tbrough when it is a pretty well-known fact that liquids and gels are prohibited over 3oz? And even if you didn't know before going to the airport, there are probably 10 signs at each checkpoint that tell you this and announcements over the loudspeaker. I have no beef with opting out of the body scanner, but you act like they singled you out by taking your liquids away from you when that rule has been in place for years now. This is a main reason why people miss their flight. "Fortune, honour, beauty, youth are but blossoms dying. Wanton pleasures, doting love are but shadows flying." ---Thomas Campion |

It doesn't matter to me at anyway, I think everyone should pack liquids in addition to opting out so it will gum up their stupid checkpoints and force them to get rid of the the idiotic no liquids over 3 ounce rule. Fuck them. |
