What's the best American muscle car? | |

I can narrow it down to a particular year though. 1967 was by far the best year for all makes/models. I cannot think of one car or truck that came out in 1967 that isn't a great looking vehicle... '67 Corvette (only year with that hood) '67 GTO '67 Mustang '67 Cuda '67 Charger '67 Impala '67 Chevelle '67 VW Bug '67 Ford Pickup '67 Chevy Pickup '67 Fairlane '67 Comet '67 Camaro '67 AMC Rebel and many more... After 1967 the EPA started to get involved and everything started going down hill, by 1973 the muscle was pretty much dead. |

The ultimate early muscle car would have been the 1969 Corvette ZL-1... because not only was it outrageously fast, it handled extremely well because the engine had an aluminum block and heads. Unfortunately only 2 were ordered and produced, but it does qualify as a standard production car. Modern would be the 2009 Corvette ZR-1, 205mph top speed in an extremely well balanced machine at a reasonable price. Most of the muscle cars were cool though. Personally I had: 1969 GTO convertible. 1970 Chevelle SS 454 an L46 if I remember correctly. 1971 Mustang Mach I with the 351 Cleveland engine. They were a lot of fun and I wish I still had all three. House, House, House will wonders never cease? Just when I thought I'd never agree with anything you said I find out you're a muscle car fanatic. Personally I had 1967 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe (Canadian Pontiac version of Chevy II SS 1967 Cutlass Coupe 1970 Camaro Presently driving,until the snow flies a: 1968 Chevelle SS (clone) I will respectively agree to disagree on everything else. |
