No one ever said freedom was safe. Upon true understanding of the concepts of freedom, you shall realize that freedom is the most dangerous choice of lifestyle. There are no guarantees in freedom but those one provides for themselves, at their own will. True freedom comes with extreme personal risk. Are you willing to take the risk?

Infinity is not a number just an arbitrary word to represent endless numbers it still increases by two so it would be °°+2 or Y+2=Y+2 because we are now keeping track of infinity
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1506508

there's another solution. y = infinity

infinity+2 = infinity

infinity = infinity

heh, Y can't equal 35.3 at the end of the problem.

it must be

2 = 2/{(y-2)/(y-2)}

it must be, because {(y-2)/(y-2)} = 1, and 2/1 = 2.

im too lazy to solve for y. if it doesnt, then you'd be right.

glad to add to the confusion.

Can you actually subtract from zero and have a sum? If not, Y might just equal zero.

It's the reason I ask.. pretty much.

Yes you can subtract from zero and have a sum. A sum is defined as adding some numbers together, right? The numbers can be negative.

So: 0 + (-7) = -7

can you redefine 2 outside of the construct of the equation?

The original one is too elegant

Y + 2 = Y

Not much room here.

or you could just say 2 = 0.

As long as there is a number with no variable on one side of the = sign, accounting for all variables in the original equation, it is solved.

i see your point; but can you introduce absolute value into the equation without it being present originally, or a stated rule or condition of the original equation? still redefining 2 out side the perimiters of the equation, or is it "allowed"? what determines this allowance, because -2 does not = 2 ..

actually, I would "dictate" the equation to be inherently invalid and move on. Self contradiction by its OWN definition is in itself an invalid number, or definition.

philosophically invalid. In fact it looks more like a simple definition of a bad philosphical statement or argument than a math equation.
