America's burning: 3,000 temperature records broken in a WEEK as drought sweeps across U.S. (and it's going to get even hotter!)
•More than 3,000 records broken in one week - and even more are underway

•Drought conditions present in 56 per cent of the country
•Farmers struggling to maintain crops as fields battered by dry conditions
An astonishing 3,000 temperature records have been shattered across the U.S. over the past week as scorching heat and severe weather grips the nation.

The records, which were broken between June 28 and July 4, include 2,253 high and 936 low temperatures for the time period, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported.

Among the cities affected, St. Louis, Missouri has seen the mercury soar past 100 degrees for eight days in a row - its second longest streak of 100-degree temperatures since 1936.

The staggering statistics come after severe weather battered the country - including devastating fires plaguing Colorado, tornadoes ravaging Washington D.C., and storms wiping out electricity for thousands on the east coast.

im in north-central indiana. its 105 out right now, so probably 110-115 with heat index. last few days have all seen temps 95+, and then even at night it only drops down to 90 or so

Lol this is completely misleading.

Truth on this Post- Yes many heat records have been broken and could be broken again.

False on this Post- When it comes to drought conditions they are not that bad. Sure there are a few areas that are having trouble but not much more than usual. In fact some of the major areas of drought last year are almost completely back to normal now.

Now possibly over the next few months if it gets hotter and areas don't get rain then it could possibly turn into this but that is not the current state of things

IF you don't believe me go here.

[link to droughtmonitor.unl.edu]

Do a custom animation GIF and do 52 weeks. Now yes when you get to the current time you will see it is more spread out than it was a year ago however most of it is just dryer than normal status and no where near Sever Drought. If you look at it a year ago the entire south was in an extreme drought and even then it wasn't the end of the world. No place is near the status Texas was last year and probably will never be. This is not doom worthy just yet.

John Moore was talking about this on his radio show.. He lives in the Missouri ozarks. He said the gulf stream has stopped and it could be like this for years to come. He also said it's possible to have this kind of heat in the eastern states clear into October.... Sort of glad about living in Arizona now. Even though it sucks royally, at least we don't have the humidity like back east.

Assuming they are really the actual temperature being recorded without the outside influences.

I'm talking about urban heat island...

By the way, 1930s is the worst decade.

They even tampered with temperature data to make it look hotter than it really was to hype things up over global warming to push for carbon tax scam.

Lol. He's wrong.

The jet stream got pushed further north bring in high pressure dome further north that gave you high temperature.

Relief is coming next week.

It's only summer.

I'm sitting here shivering; the fan is on. It's 53 ... only recently has it started warming here. We are acclimated to cooler weather; (LAT: 48.789224, LONG: -117.285919) most of the year; the forecast has us going from mild temps to baking over the next few days; neverthelesss; this IS summer and we are happy to be out in the glorious sunshine. We have rivers and lakes and fishing and all that good stuff to go along with it. Hope you all stay cool and stay hydrated!

OWNING THE WEATHER BY 2025 is a document reporting ways to use the weather as a weapon for use by the USSA military.

Seems they are early in achieving their goal.

Thread: America's burning: 3,000 temperature records broken in a WEEK as drought sweeps across U.S. (and it's going to get even hotter!)

now the tricky part is this

Power plants most vulnerable to water scarcity.

Who knew? Power plants use 40% of U.S. freshwater supplies. How will they cope with a drier climate? Who will keep the lights on when the water runs out?.....................
