Euro crash keeping precious metals in line. EURO CARSH NEXT WEEK?
************************************************

updated 07/08/2012 20:13

In an extended interview with Bloomberg TV, Nouriel Roubini lives up to his doom-saying reputation and goes where few have as he opines on Lieborgate that: "bankers are greedy and have been for 1000 years" and "nothing is going to change" unless there are criminal sanctions; to which he follows up - briefly silencing the interviewer, "If some people end up in jail, maybe that will teach a lesson to somebody - or somebody will hang in the streets". The professor goes on to note that the EU "summit was a failure" since markets were expecting much more and warns that without full debt mutualization, debt monetization by the ECB, or a quadrupling of the EFSF/ESM 'bazooka'; Italian and Spanish spreads will continue to blow out day after day - leading to a crisis "not in six months but in two weeks

"One of Friday’s most important pieces of news was also one of the most unexpected ...

euro money markets funds in full panic mode:

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (JPM), Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) and BlackRock Inc. (BLK) are closing several European money-market funds to new investment after the European Central Bank slashed deposit rates to zero.

Of the total $137 billion in euro-denominated money market funds, J.P. Morgan manages about $30 billion, BlackRock manages about $23 billion and Goldman Sachs manages about $13 billion, according to Peter Crane, president of Crane Data.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management isn't accepting subscriptions in its GS Euro Government Liquidity Reserves Fund effective immediately, but redemptions aren't affected. A second euro fund, the GS Euro Liquid Reserves Fund, wasn't closed to investors.

So much for the “breakthrough” European leaders negotiated at the EU summit last week as the European Debt Crisis continues to linger. Yields increased yet again for the peripherals. The yield on Spanish 10-Year notes spiked higher by 36 basis points to 6.77% while Italy’s longer maturity benchmark note is back up to 5.96%, a jump of 19 basis points (see figure 1).

The Euro was down a whopping 1.1% against the U.S. dollar and finished trading at 1.2391 after the Central Bank cut rates to 0.75 on concerns of recessionary pressures for the region.

U.S. Stocks continue to live in a vacuum as prices were down only slightly. The S&P 500 lost 0.5% from Tuesday’s close to 1,367.68.

I am a sociologist, not an economist. However, most experts I have read expect the banks to inject more liquidity into global markets. Otherwise, the 2008 recession might repeat itself.

Re: Euro crash keeping precious metals in line. EURO CARSH NEXT WEEK?
It should be blatantly obvious that all of these so called leaders are clueless about economics. They have no solutions, for if our "leaders" did, they'd have already implemented these solutions. We won't solve a debt crisis problem by adding more debt and you can't fix a solvency problem by adding liquidity. Once Europe implodes or manages to kick the can a bit further, maybe the idiots that invested in US treasuries will realize that the US debt problem is worse and that we have negative real interest rates here in the US. Only an idiot would want fiat currencies these days when you could buy gold, silver or survival gear. Silvertards, we ride.

The problem is that politics and economics are almost inseparable. Economic decisions are often made for political reasons and vice-versa.

I suspect, The politicians will keep it from crashing next week by introducing some silly reforms that will drag the inevitable from happening just yet!... I kinda trust Gerald Celente's view that they are going to keep fudging the numbers and introducing new ideas to keep it a float for the foreseeable future... I could be wrong though... either way I'm out of paper money..only way to be....
