What kind of mental disorder do people have who choose to have a pet cat over a pet dog?

i really love Nature and Animals especially Dogs,

cats are strange animals, If you have good luck and you get a very calm and pretty and good hearted cat everything is ok!

But there are cats out there with a very bad character its like humans .... i have had some cats before but i decided to never want a cat again ... you always have that poop and shit on you litter and it stinks like hell, also it isnt really healthy

All true. You have to earn your cat's love and attention. You have really accomplished something when you do and it really isn't that hard to do. You can't force yourself on them. It just takes some calm, patience and love. Some people are just not suited for cats. If your cat hasn't come around you after about two weeks, you might want to find her another home. You obviously are not the right personality. They know. You don't. Or you may want to start off with a kitten. They are more trusting and adaptable to strange surroundings than an older cat.

I have both. I recently aquired a couple of little house dogs. I love them both. Dogs do need human companionship much more than cats. No disputing that. Lacking that, they need a pack to belong too. I feel so bad for the dogs in America that spend their lives on a chain in the backyard. They are being horribly neglected.

I have cats because they weigh 10 pounds, are soft, loving, clean and quiet.

That verses a dog that smells like shit, has to be let out to poop, barks like a fucking idiot all the time, eats a shitload of food, and jumps all over me.

My first wife and I had cats, and I hated it. The house ALWAYS reeked of CAT! I don't know how it ended up this way, but we ended up with 13 Black cats! I know I was working a lot, maybe a lot more than I thought. I finally got fed up[ and questioned, cats or me. She said cats, but that I would be back. Never got within thirty feet of her again.

Cats (felines) are the only other animal besides man that is openly predatory towards man. Cats are never accepted into your family, they only accept you as their property. When a cat comes home, it DEMANDS attention immediately. It does NOT care what you are doing, you are only there to serve it! Cats were once thought of as GODs, and they demand the continued servitude today.

Dogs ask for so little. If you forget to feed it for a day or so, it will go out and hunt for itself, happily ridding the neighborhood of pests; both small and larger kids and the occasional neighbor. You rub a dog on the head and it wags their tail in happy ignorance. You rub a cat on the head, and are stuck for life, or till whenever it decides to walk away.
A dog will love you through thick and thin times, laying at your feet, waiting for an occasional rub, pat, or word from you that acknowledges it's existence.

Dog people know what being ALPHA is all about. If you want your pet to be ALPHA then get a cat.

Like them both but don't want a cat. Fur is too staticy, makes my face itch. Gets on counters and knocks over things. Leaves yard easily to aggravate neighbors by pooping in their yard and spreading toxoplasmas to people trying to avoid it.

Households with dog and cat are fun, there's room for all kinds of love but I prefer the dog by far.

It's the none-animal lovers period that I'm concerned about.How can you not love animals?

I've always been a cat person. I like dogs, but they are not meant for me or my lifestyle. A dog in my home would probably be very unhappy. But my cat is the queen in our home.

Pets add to the quality of life. But we're different people with different lifestyles and hobbies, and different tastes in animals and pets.
That doesn't mean that someone who chooses differently than you have a screw loose. But the fact that you think so, and would like everybody to fit in the same mold you do, tells me that you probably do have more than one or two screws loose.

Cats do NOT spread toxoplasmosis. You have to directly PUT CAT SHIT IN YOUR MOUTH IN ORDER TO CATCH IT. Dumbass. Do the research.

The problem is people don't train their dogs. And are too lazy to keep up with the work involved with having a dog. And are so narcissistic that think the dog is there for their purpose and to give them free love when a dog is really a working animal. Get a dog for protection or hunting, not to sit around the house barking. He's barking becaues he's bored. Duh. Cats will fetch you mice and you don't have to worry.

I have both, love both equally, both are equally deserving of love. Cats are difficult to transport, but can be left alone for a day or two on their own. Dogs are easy to transport, but can't be left alone for more than 12 hours or so. If I had to choose one over the other, I'd have to choose the dog because of its never ending loyalty
