Considering you're writing from Spain I guess you read and speak Spanish as well. I speak Spanish and Portuguese and understand a bit of Italian and studied very little Russian. Anyway read this in old fashioned Spanish written centuries ago by Inca Pomez de Ayala [link to www.upch.edu.pe] You'll see in some part of the description of the giants it's mentioned they lacked "baruas" or barbuas. The letter V in Latin had the sound of V and U depending on the letters next in a word. That word was barba or beards. Somewhere else the long hair is mentioned and their height. Each one of them ate like 50 common men. Their eyes had the size of plates.
