Just an idea...try disabling Norton Internet Security during downloading. Had a lot of problems with Norton myself...
Had problems with my ip adress: couldn`t even see images on Google Groups and was banned automatically from GLP several times.
I switched it of and all problems were gone... |

If you are donloading from beinhd a proxy, even if you have never dl'ed before from that site, then whoever is using the proxy or shares the same block of your IP, will show up as you are downloading.
Check their FAQ's for help on this.

I'm using my sister's computer and don't want to store the books permanently on hers. Do you know, can I download them (she's got broadband) and then put them on a CD for later installation on my computer? I don't want to take a chance on waiting for a month and then not being able to find this info again...thanks for the help. Really excellent of you to do this. |

big folder u mentioned it was about 250 MB.
Then again, don't know if u are continually online, or have a server or something like that to keep u online.

Not true. Linux has zip decompression support. From a console, look for a program called "unzip"
$ unzip file.zip [-d option_to_extract_to_this_dir]
From within KDE's filemanager, it can look inside compressed archives such as zip also. |

Once downloaded it, but couldn`t manage it. Didn`t understand the system.

I downloaded Bittorrent...but don`t understand how to share the files.
I have 3 zip files each 600 megs! (mb`s)
I choosed : "make a new torrent" and selected one of the files.
Also I selected "seeding" (whatever that is.)
Then I got this screen saying:
Torrent name: EBOOKS1.zip
Url: [link to my.tracker:6969]
File name: EBOOKS1.zip
When I go to the url I find nothing
and in the torrent searchbox I don`t find anything eiter on EBOOKS1.zip
What do I do wrong? |

I ended up with 105 e-books from your selections and am planning on burning some CD's for my friends as Christmas presents. Mostly I have been skimming through all the books in amazement at the depth of this material. I have started The Yoga of the Christ in earnest though. I had to print out the book for some reason, I guess it is a more familiar way for me to comprehend.
