Is it better to travel and live a fulfilled life of adventure, or is better to sit and home and save money for retirement?

It's hard choice. I love to travel. But I ALWAYS get pissed when I'm travelling because I feel like I'm being ripped off. I recently spent the night in Sydney with my children, because I wanted to take them to the museums. I stayed at the Westin. Because my kids are young I ordered room service. I didn't realise to order them hot chocolate was $9 per cup (for just cocoa), and then a $8 delivery fee. It's a small thing, but it pissed me off. All up, the accommodation cost about $1000 for one night. And it was a shitty little room.
The last time I spent about that much was at the Four Seasons at the Rocks. Better hotel, better location, better view. And they gave the kids a present on arrival.
Quoting: Aunty Flo That is why it pays to do your homework before you go somewhere. And like you figured out it always costs more for non-necessities like room service. If you do something like that know you will pay through the nose but just enjoy it as an occasional treat.
