3 yrs clean :) was a tottal junkie and criminal for over 20 yrs

2 Years 3 Months 7 days from Pain Pill addiction, only by the grace of Jesus Christ!

That I am three years and seven months clean and sober and far away from the burning hell life I once had.

I'm thankful for everyday I have with my daughter who is a 13 yr. cancer survivor. We had a bout with some organ issues (liver) that resulted in a transplant surgery. They removed her jugular vein to replace her portal vein which was blocked by residual scar tissue from the tumor. From which she recovered well, so overall very blessed and very thankful.

this is my last day of being a paid member and i have some karma points to use. so i will use it to ask you to write one thing you are thankful for today. it could be something as simple as you are thankful for water. or thankful you have eyes. or thankful for cheerios. or thankful that you are having a stable day. or thankful that even if it is unstable, you are making it through anyway.

today i am thankful for my mullein plant which unexpectedly starting growing in my yard and because of this i learned so much about the mullein and it's medicinal properties.

here is a photo of how large it is compared to me, i think it's about 8 feet tall now and i am 5'2"

Uses

Great Mullein has been used since ancient times as a remedy for skin, throat and breathing ailments. It has long had a medicinal reputation, especially as an astringent and emollient, as it contains mucilage, several saponins, coumarin and glycosides. Dioscorides recommended it for diseases of the lung and it is now widely available in health and herbal stores. Non-medical uses have included dyeing and making torches.

Medical uses
Dioscorides first recommended the plant 2000 years ago, against pulmonary diseases, and this has remained one of its primary uses, especially against cough. Leaf decoctions or herbal teas were used for expectoration, consumption, dry cough, bronchitis, sore throat and hemorrhoids.

Leaves were also smoked against pulmonary ailments, a tradition that in America was rapidly transmitted to Native American peoples. coumarin, rotenone) that cause breathing problems in fish, and have been widely used as piscicide for fishing.

The flowers provide dyes of bright yellow or green, and have been used for hair dye.

The dried leaves and hair were made into candle wicks, or put into shoes to help with insulating them.

The dried stems were also dipped into suet or wax to make torches.

Due to its weedy capacities, the plant, unlike other species of the genus (such as V. phoeniceum), is not often cultivated.

I am thankful Jesus saved me from killing myself and gave me a new life.
