Need help looking for list of Vietnam veterans

He'd know others that were serving there with him, are they in the neighbourhood/State? Ask them.

His dog tags, ID metal chips, all Vets had them, Certificate of Service Record will have his postings while in service,

Ask him which branch he served in, Medical, Infantry, or Ship if Navy

Go to the county seat where he lived at the time.
They will have the records of service.
Ask him for his (DD214} we all have them,lists rank service number, dates of overseas service ect.

Use a geneology site to see his papers

Cant be done ..

HIs DD-214 will tell you that information but the HEPPA ACT protects his private information. or his right to privacy....have him show you that document...

I'm a Vietnam veteran, and I'm just as curious as you about where you can find a list of Vietnam veterans - at least for free. You used to be able to get one free at militaryUSA.com.Now they charge you. It's quite a coincidence that we're thinking about the same thing at the same time. I've gone through this over the years. I can tell you that a lot of guys lie about being over there. Here's a question you can ask him - ask him if he ever heard of a beer called 33? If he doesn't know the answer to that, I doubt that he was over there.

If anyone does find a way to find vets .. I am looking for a vet .. that was residing in hartford, connecticut and served in the cold war on a base in bamburg .. .. and his daughter has been dying to find him .. .. came back to adopt her at about 7 and the mother said f.u .. not understanding americans where made to leave .. so yes, if there is any potential free database or anyone that served there please mesage me ..

the mention of "33" beer. I was ther from 70' and left mid 72; And I don't remember 33 beer. Does that make me a liar that I never served? You shouldn't post nonsense like that. We forget more than we remember. Do I remember that Fields leaving late in the in the afternoon with his water truck to miss getting through Chekpoint Charlie? Do I remember he came back with the truck filled with hootchiemama's for my birthday? SOme things you forget.. Some you remember.

All I remember is the only way for you to know you would have to have been exposed to the Vietnamese people, and you would know what it is. Simple Version.

In answer to posts mentioning 33 beer;
33 beer was the local Vietnamese beer called Bah Me Bahm. It was sold in all Vietnamese bars along with Saigon Tea.

33 beer was Ba Mui Ba in Vietnamese

If you don't know of the 33 beer in Nam the you were either never in a bar or were so straight you never visited any of baby san homes or bars. Ask him what di do means.

Just ask to see his ear necklace. That's all the proof you need.

I was there from Dec. 69 to Dec 70 and I don`t remember 33 beer but do remember tiger piss.

JUST because a person served during a war DOESN'T make them a hero, EVEN if they were in a combat location.
