Re: Calling All Cat People: What's wrong with my cat?
Female cats will meow loudly and sort of stick their butts in the air. The first time I saw one do this I thought she was in distress, but no, she is just in heat. If there is no male she may do this quite a bit as she comes into heat. I currently have a female that seems to come into heat once a month but she is a house cat. She gets very vocal and rolls around on the floor, or sticks her butt up in the air and meows a lot. It is kind of annoying. She gets annoyingly friendly and wants to be petted and wants attention all the time. I keep thinking about bringing a male cat in the house but I am afraid she'd tear him to bits because she is also aggressive to the dog and any strangers that come into the house. I don't really know how to introduce a male for her to breed with.

Re: Calling All Cat People: What's wrong with my cat?
If you feed your cat commercial cat food be very careful if you see them trying to pee in the litter box and they can't seem to go, they keep trying and trying to pee. You have to get them into the vet IMMEDIATELY to get their urinary tract unblocked because the commercial cat food has this garbage in it, particularly dry cat food. Your cat needs lots of water to keep their urinary tract clean, I recommend one of those waterfall water things, that they drink more with those. Watch female cats especially for urinary tract infections.

I know a siamese cat that is 20 years old.. He does the same thing.. I would say, not to worry....hf

Thats what I was hoping for. A cat that does the same thing... maybe just getting quirky with age....

It could be cause by a little memory lost or a dizzy spell...
I'm just thinking out loud... maybe the eyes aren't focusing...They're no different than us humans in many of ways.....hf

My cat Sandy ( who lived to 15-16) would sit on the bed and look at something moving. She would follow it with her eyes. Happened all the time. Cats can see things that we cannot.

Re: Calling All Cat People: What's wrong with my cat?
My cat and I were hanging out on the lounge, just relaxing. I was reading a book when suddenly she gave this strange miaow. I looked at her and she was sort of frozen, staring at a spot in the room. She looked terrified. I could see her heart was racing.

I got up and had a look around. Nothing. I soothed her but she did not relax. I started to worry that something was terribly wrong & rang the vet. It was late at night so the vet was closed. I wrote down the emergency after-hours number. All this took about five minutes. I was worried the cat was dying. Suddenly she was OK. I gave her some milk which she drank all of....

Any ideas? She had a full check-up a couple of months ago (bloodwork, teeth cleaned etc) & was fine.

There was likely a discarnate presence in the room. Cats see these even when we can't.

My cat is a bit weird at times too, there is one corner in my room she dislikes for some reason. Every time she goes into that certain corner of the room she opens her mouth looking as if she wants to bite something. She doesnt do it anywhere but in this one corner of my room.

The milk ws a special treat. She loves it but rarely has it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1946739

Some cats can drink milk without a problem.....Others are lactose intolerant. Once in a while is not a problem :)

Cats will open their mouths like that to heighten their sensitivity to scents. Chances are something happened in that corner that left an odor very faint and hard to pick up on.

OP, I have yet to live with a cat that did not occasionally feel threatened by what seemed to be nothing. The deaf white cat that we presently live with seems to be especially tuned into something. Sometimes when she becomes distraught, she'll start making short, clipped meows that almost sound like clicks. Usually I will lie on the floor next to her, petting her to try to put her at ease. Sometimes she is so entranced that she won't even respond to being petted until after several moments, then she'll turn and give me a look like, "O hai, where'd you come from?" and immediately stop the click-meows, start purring, and rub face-to-face like nothing was amiss.

I think cats have OBEs too. Deaf cats are really something - it's too easy to sneak up on them and watch them dream =)
