A shit pile of those people have been to America and now know we are fucked.

They can't find work here so they are now trying to fix their country.

More power to them. I hope they are successful.

We still haven't established WHAT they are protesting or protesting FOR.

You see, here a 100,000 people protest isn't that big anymore.

I hope people post videos of protests in their country here!

A lot of RED shirts there, Canadian.

Seriously -- is that CANADIAN red, or SOCIALIST red?!

.
 Quoting: Borat Sagdiyev

Neither,Québec isn't a patriotic country, 1 québécois out of 2 wishes to get independence from Canada.

The red represents the student movement, it has always been this way as long as students are striking in Québec. It represents the red on "STOP" signs because we wish to put a stop on all tuition fee rise.

A lot of americans have been accusing this movement being a communist infiltration because of the red square, which is total ignorance of the situation.

Hope they can change there out of control corruption.

I hope that someday we can change our out of control corruption in America! I'm afraid it might take more than mass protests to do that though........
COUNTRY FIRST

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
5. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

Re: The World’s largest public protest in Mexico 2012
Here are some comments, why they are protesting.

"¡Fuera Peña, fuera Peña!". It stands for "Peña, out!". Mexico is being threatened by the worst presidential elections fraud in its history. After the perfect 71 years dictatorship of the "Institutional Revolution Party" was defeated democratically, and after 12 years without the PRI, they came back by vote-buying, fraud and rigging. The population is standing up to the return of corruption and authoritarianism that the Federal Electoral Institute is justifying and describing as "legal".

We marched because our government and corporations are trying to impose on us a president that we did not choose. There was a terrible electoral fraud. We have tons of proof. This guy "our new elected president" Peña Nieto, is responsible for repressions, and he recognized it. The people in this video was not the total. Thousands of us were behind them, marching on the streets trying to get there. But it was already full. The march started at 3pm. I got there finally at 7pm.

Jesus. turn off the fox news. Read a little bit, maybe/ And not bullshit blogs. Mexico has history. Mexico has politics. We barely understand it, but there are deep, deep levels of corruption in their society and gov't. (Sounds familiar, eh?) The difference being theirs is blatant, and apparently, they care once in a while (familiar again?)

Ser down ladies, there are no mass demonstrations in the scales being alluded to...

Most people like americans and europeans are on holidays as school just broke for summer, and there are much fewer levels of people in cities, and if these severly reduced numbers there are supposedly mass demonstrations?

Alot has being going on during the recount of around 60 000 votes form around 130 000 and still Peńa Nieto won. Students protested mainly and now they are surfing it up beach style so lets not exaggerate, and as Mexico is the largest populated city in the world alone, there would always be a hugemongous turn out

Yes, everything was staged in Mexico for the new president to be imposed. Media was also involved brainwashing people.

There was a lot of corruption during the election. The government is allied with the drug-dealers. Now we want a revolution and we are not letting Peña to be our next president on December 1st.

Re: The World’s largest public protest in Mexico 2012
YES! WE'RE FUCKING ANGRY! THIS WAS A FRAUD!!!!

For those of you who haven't heard about it, it pretty much goes like this:

Lopez Obrador (from the opposition) won the election back in 2006, but they made up the final result, saying he had lost for 0.56%, which is bullshit! I have a relative who works for the government in Mexico City (ruled by the same party, PRD) and he says that a lot of wealthy men gathered and said they wouldn't let him win, because that would mean great losses for them (a.k.a NOT PAYING TAXES FOR EXAMPLE)

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has really cool ideas, which basically promote a socialist democracy. You can check them out here (it's in spanish, but I think it's understandable)

[link to amlo.si]

So... the elite basically told mexicans to suck it up and they imposed Felipe Calderón (from PAN, right-wing party that has ruled for the last 12 years). His failure to govern is at this point undeniable: 100,000 drug war victims, no jobs, crime, corruption, prices going higher (food, gas, electricity)... Seriously, every single aspect is worse than it was six years ago :/

And now in 2012, Lopez Obrador ran for president again, but the media and the mexican elite (which include some of the world's richest men) have been supporting Enrique Peña Nieto, from PRI, the party which is to blame for most of Mexico's disgraces. The man is literally a puppet, he's representing interests of influential and wealthy people, not of us mexicans.
On top of that, PRI has been buying votes of poor people, they bought votes for 50 dollars or they gave them pre-paid supermarket cards :(

According to the official story, Peña Nieto won with 18,000,000 votes and Obrador lost with 15,900,000. These protests are asking to nullify the election, but as you say, there's a media blackout and no support from any authorities.

Last Saturday I went to protest, it was the biggest demonstration here ever seen, five thousand people gathered. And not only here, it was all over the country, in Mexico City EIGHTY THOUSAND PEOPLE! . And the newspapers said that "we gave a bad reputation, we were scaring tourists off", but on the front page they had the coverage of some stupid artist's wedding
