I mean if the president want's to pull unlimited power out of his ass why shouldn't we citizens do the same.

Actually the time to start being concerned is now, he does not need to use these powers, they are no available to be used or abused by anyone following him that may take office. That I think is the bigger concern.

We've been in a state of national emergency in respect to Iran since at least 1977...every president has renewed it.
Besides the point, Bush declared a state of national emergency after 9/11...and renewed it every year. Same with Obama.

Thread: Obama gains control of communications with Executive Order..For National Security of course

Yes. I for one am terrified at the very thought of the president notifying me of a national emergency. Let everyone else know to take cover, I will face the emergency with diligent unawareness, hiding behind my cases of Bison Chili and 2000 rolls of TP.

If a national emergency is about to hit, we should all figure it out ourselves, two days later, through word of mouth, church services and the vetting of who is an true, honest patriot. We will gather without electricity in town halls and find out if anyone from the next town over got word from Cheyenne what to do next.

We do NOT want to hear it in advance from some black man across on the other end of the country! It should come from a white guy, on his horse, tipping his hat as he enters our town, after we scrutinize him with guns drawn and he proves his worthiness through a trial of good ol' country wits. Only then will we begin picking up the pieces. Until then, it's 2 at a time on 12-hour shifts at the entryway, 3 shifts per week, firing at any riff-raff that dares come our way without a good reason and something to barter.

There have been quite a few posts about this EO the last few days, and I believe this is all cause for concern, but everyone should remember this:

An Executive Order does not have the power of law, Executive Orders were meant to direct the bureaucracy in their operations not to be enforced upon the masses of private citizens. You CANNOT BE ARRESTED, FINED, OR TRIED IN COURT FOR IGNORING AN EXECUTIVE ORDER if you are a private citizen.

After the Civil War the Supreme Court ruled on Lincoln's suspension of Habeas Corpus, in that ruling it stated that NO BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT MAY SUSPEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!!

They only have this power if we give it to them...

I never made the argument that this administration wasn't totally lawless, they are, but I'm amazed how many private citizens out there that believe these EO's have the power of law...The media doesn't tell you this, but THEY DON'T HAVE ANY AUTHORITY OVER YOU. I didn't see "Internet" in the executive order, why don't they call it out by name or do they use "communications" as cover-all?

He only has as much power as the legislature and the people will give him.

No one really has any power or control, not even Obama.

It is those who support him out of fear or some sort of public school education brainwashing that gives him (and anyone really) any amount of power.

When Clinton was in office he tried a lot of stuff, like President Obama, but people wrote to their congress person and informed the of the executive order, that had been put in. Congress can over turn these orders! You just have to get enough people notified that these executive orders are. They need to write their congress persons.

The citizens have to be vigilant because sometime congress doesn't seem to know about them.

They sure didn't like his wanting to sign a treaty on gun ownership, that only the senate can approve. They let him know it too.

Your kidding right? The Bush administration started 2 wars with no plan other than to get America involved and did it for no cause. They also gave us the Department of Homeland Security then gave us TSA and don't for the Patriot Act. The list could go on but whats the point....and we should be outraged by anything Obamma does?
