This goes back to the US civil war. Lincoln declared marital law at the end of the war. He was assassinated before he could rescind the EO and Congress never did either.
That's why our flag looks the way it does. The stripes are supposed to be vertical if we are in a state of peace. The current US flag is the battle flag, not the real flag of our nation.
In the book Gone With the Wind, it even describes this flag in detail. Quoting: Conspiracy Theorist You do know that Gone With the Wind is a book of fiction, right? That and the flag hes talking about is the US Costumes Flag. Americans have flown MANY different flags over the years, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some nut was flying the US Costumes Flag. Oh, and how do you explain "Old Glory" (War of 1812) if such a scenario was true? There are plenty of other examples but that one.. is a big one. Pun aside, its also something most .. well.. once upon a time most .. Americans would recognize. What about Old Glory? I told you the horizontal striped flag is the battle flag representing that we are at war, as in the WAR of 1812.
