That Which Once Was: Past Lives

You ask, I answer. That's how it works. By asking you give permission for me to speak it. I always sense, but don't usually say.

Fields of flowers as far as the eye can see. They're no longer blooming, and have 'gone to seed'. You stand harvesting them with other workers.

You are a slave. You have been a slave all of your life once you left the orphanage, where you were [for all practical purposes] already a slave, just not legally owned as one.

You feel the whip again, but you are old and tired at all of thirty years old. Your back is bent and life has been hard. You have never known anything but work.

At last, you can't take it anymore. You fall down and just don't get up. You barely feel the whip, or the boots, or the violence anymore. You've been raped and beaten so often before, you have become nearly immune to it. Like the other women here, you were happy when you were no longer pretty... but regretful, too, that you couldn't protect those that were.

The violence of your death means little to you, for it was the violence that marked your life.

But there was something that you didn't know. Something you still don't know.

In all that time, you sought to protect others. It was simply your nature. You usually failed, but for all that happened to you... you never quit trying.

Do you see it in you now?

You see all the bad in yourself, but do you understand that this attribute is proof of the divine nature of your soul? You are a child of God, as we all are.

And through so many lifetimes of abuse and pain, you have always shown your divine nature by trying to protect others.

It means nothing to you. It's just "the way you are" and not important to you... but it brings tears to my eyes, for it is the beauty of love shining through you, irrepressible and enduring.

You, also, are beautiful, dear one. You are an exquisite treasure, with a value beyond price.

I'm not sure which 'last time' you were referring to. I would have stated up front if I 'found something bad and didn't want to tell you'.

My apologies that you felt slighted. It was not my intent.

Noooo, not slighted. It seems like I try to be a good guy but sometimes things I say or do are misconstrued and I feel like an ass when I meant to be nice. I often wonder if there is something wrong with me or if I'm just misunderstood.

I doubt there's anything wrong with you. I know exactly how you feel. What I think and feel often doesn't get translated to my facial expression or even written expression. I think I presume people will just know what I mean and maybe that's what's going on with you, too, at least somewhat. I mean, even if I won the lottery, I know I would not yell, go nuts, express a whole lot of emotion, etc. but inside I'd be elated.

Anyway, my previous post didn't get a response but I think the number of people asking Sandi is so much that she can't get to everyone. I look at it as "meant to be" that way and accept it as a sign to steer clear.

That is beautiful imagery, and I thank you for it. I wish my real garden was anywhere near as nice as the mental image you just gave me. :p

You know, it's a funny thing, actually. There's a flower called Lemon Rocket in NH. It grows all over the place, and most consider it a weed.

But it's got these slightly sour, very tasty leaves. Really tasty.

Isn't it amazing how many plants we try to kill, that have wonderful benefits to us? Dandelions are one of the most beneficial plants--and most hated.

I say that if anyone dares wonder if God loves us, just go out and look at a dandelion. Nature's perfect food, that we try to murder at every opportunity... and it just never gives up on us.
