This evening, the neighbor kids were making fun of my daughter. I told her to look at them, and think to herself, "Thank you. Thank you for showing me what a jerk looks like, so I won't be one, myself."

Rare are the times that need to tell someone, you wouldn't like who you were... but the truth of the matter is that we've all our Charles Mansons and our Jack the Rippers. None of us fail to come to the world and show it what a true jerk looks like.

The past isn't set in stone, and neither is the present or the future. You may not be able to change what you were, but you can choose to alter the impact that you allow it to have.

The life that is most pressing upon you right now in this one is one in which you chose to show the world what a jerk looks like. You gave many the opportunity to make new choices-- better choices-- because they saw the pain your actions brought. Before you get too angry about that, I invite you to remember that your soul came in each lifetime to bring something to the world that was necessary.

In many lifetimes, you were a person filled with tremedous love, kindness, and compassion. But for you, all it took was one lifetime to make you believe that being human, in and of itself, was an inherent evil. That simply being human carries within it a stigma, a malignancy.

Although you may feel like you've overcome that feeling, I invite you to look deeper for the remaining scars. You are close, but there is a prejudice that you could address that would bring you greater peace. Once you understand that all have their place, and that suffering is built into the choice to be, and to do, evil... you will understand why all souls are precious.
