Why are all the pictures on the Drudge Report black and white right now?

I don't know why, but I did notice it right away as it is my favorite site to checkout; that and of course GLP. There has to be a meaning behind it, Matt Drudge has to be doing this for a reason!

Maybe he is saying that the news has gone to strictly black and white, with no gray area?
Is it a racial thing? I am sure someone will turn it in to that...
Is he making a statement about time... the past or possibly our neglectful way of not learning from it?
Maybe he is just messing with us!?!
Any other theories?

Easy. Saves on bandwidth.

After optimization, black and white (or optimized "grayscale") pictures only take about 40% bandwith as does a color image. Since the design is already minimal, this means that Drudge can essentially triple the bandwidth efficiency (3 page views for the price of one original page view).

No brainer for me, and frankly, it adds to the "film noir" style of even more.

What's Drudge Doing?

Some readers of Drudgereport.com were surprised this week to find that all of the images on the popular website had been converted to black and white, prompting speculation as to the reasoning behind the decision.

Speculation on several web forums has included the theory that perhaps the black and white theme is a metaphor for political relations in this country, where there are two extremes with no middle ground.
Others suggest he may simply be returning to the old style of newspapers in simple black and white print.
FoxNews.com reached out to Drudge for comment on the changes, but messages were not immediately returned.
