GLP = MORANS INC

DIRECTV has direct access to stats that tell them exactly what their clientele are watching.

So it does not take a genius to know they did the math before making this decision.

Obviously 1 BILLION EXTRA DOLLARS (that you would pay for anyways) is not worth the price for TRASH TV on their networks as the majority of their user base does not demand it.

Maybe since I am up at this awful hour I will give calling them a try. I can imagine the phones are full during the day. I can use free sunday ticket! They are giving away as part of the new package deal this year, so whats one more free viewer?? I'll let you know if I get through

Not sure if their cancellation or customer service departments are open right now but your best bet is to call tomorrow.

Funny thing is both the customer service rep and retentions rep I spoke with admitted to me that they are being flooded with calls from angry customers right now, and they also admitted they are pretty much forced to hand out these freebies right now knowing if they don't tons of customers will jump ship to Dish or cable.

Like I said, this is corporate greed at it's finest but the good part about it is the lowly customers like us can exploit the situation.

I still cannot believe I'm getting Sunday Ticket completely free this year, especially since I've spent a fortune on it the last few years. The movie channels and bill credit are just icing on the cake after getting that deal.

Yeah, they were closed. They open at 8 am, so I will call first thing in the morning. I don;t have much to do so I can sit on hold for free sunday ticket. I have paid a ton for it every year too

Just make sure whatever you do don't get an attitude with them, be nice and explain you and your family is very frustrated with the situation and have decided to cancel. You can also complain about DT's prices for good measure which is also what I did.

At first customer service will try telling you that it's no big deal and the channels will likely be back in a few weeks or less (they probably are right) but just tell them you are going to cancel anyway.

When they send you to retention give the same sob story and tell them you want to cancel service. At this point they are likely going to offer something and will likely put you on hold and play the 'let me talk to my supervisor' game to come back and offer the sunday ticket for free or something similar to what I got.

Success, but not as sucessful as you were. I got the $30 refund and Season Ticket Max for half off. I will take it. I didn't want to push to hard, plus he didn't seem to want or was able to give more than that. It took a lot of talking to even get that.. he was trying to get me to order a free trial of Netflix, to watch the kids shows until the contract was worked out, which I already had. I told him that I didn't think it was fair for my kids to have to watch it on a little computer screen when they are used to watching it on our media projector
