whether anyone want to do or not, they can't.. cos the London traffic is at a stand-still most of the time. Everyone is using the Olympic lanes.. I've driven over them too. The Traffic Wardens are going to make a fortune in parking fines! The 'only' way to get to the Olympic site is on the hot & stuff Central tube line, or an overland train, if one can even find room to squeeze on any tube or train. Fat people should be banned from the trains. There's too many very slow drivers who don't leave 2nd gear.. this sort of start & stop. London will come to a stand-still during the Games.. sigh..

I'm not going.

Hey guys, I can't make it to the 2012 London Olympics. Something came up, maybe next time.

The Croatian athlete has dominated women's high jumping since her silver medal in Beijing in 2008 and had expected to start as favourite for the London Games.

She underwent an operation on her Achilles tendon in January but suffered a bacterial infection during her recovery.

In May she announced that she would make a final decision on whether to compete at the Olympics, "the day before take off".

However, writing on her website on Saturday Vlasic, who has the second best jump of all time with 2.08 metres, confirmed that she is unhappy with her current performance and she will not compete in London.

"[sic] I've been postponing decision about my participation in London hopeful to get some positive wind into my back," she said.

AFP - England's miserable summer weather has prompted Chinese athletics star Liu Xiang to leave London and complete his pre-Olympics training in Germany, the China Daily said Tuesday.

Coach Sun Haiping said hurdler Liu, who won a gold medal at the Athens Olympics in 2004 but had to pull out of the Beijing Games, was among a number of athletes who had left London because of the wet weather in the British capital.

"Other Chinese teams have also chosen to move their base thanks to London's cold weather, so Liu Xiang is not the only one," the paper's website quoted Sun as saying.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), has announced the dropping of three athletes from Nigeria's team to this month's Olympics in London.

President of the AFN, Chief Solomon Ogba said Thursday that the dropping of the athletes followed the final analysis of their chances to medal at the Games.

He said that the affected athletes have been duly informed without mentioning who the trio are.

Similarly, one of the track & field coaches, American Garfield Ellenwood, has also been dropped from Nigeria’s delegation to the London 2012 Olympics scheduled to begin on July 27.
