Tisha b'Av is a big day, you're right, however literally it falls on 7/28-29 this year whereas regular sabbath is 7/27-28. Not being Jewish, I'm not sure of how it might be recognized near the Sabbath cuz it it would be hard to stack two realistically speaking. Anyone know how this works?

Tisha b'Av commemorates only the destruction of both temples but several other key points of Jewish persecution are attached to the date. From Aish.com:
