Re: Am I democrat or republican?
I fall on different sides of the political divide all the time. Any thinking person would. There is nothing worse than someone who agrees with a political party on every issue. Such people are accurately described as shills or sheeple.

I'm independent and vote however I see fit at the time. This year I'm afraid I'll be voting for that used car salesman Romney.
 Quoting: Erectus 14823865

Sometimes I think "lesser of two evils" is a party in itself. That one is a bit of a numbers game, always has been, although it seems more risky as of late.
Ever wonder when the number will be up?

Well in my humble opinion nothing on that list is 'insulting or annoying'. And you are very fortunate that you can rely on 'solar' and have no need for public libraries. And there would be many more fatalities if we didn't have red lights, etc. in place. And who is in favor of killing boys overseas? But it is a fact of life that we need the military to serve and protect. Anyway . . . I can see that you are trying to find your way and asking questions is a good thing. Takes a while to figure out where you stand in this world today. peace
 Quoting: Truly

Thanks :)

Not to use you as an example, but the "we need to be protected by the military" thing. Isn't that more of a republican thing? Or is it just a patriotic thing?

If I were voting with my money, the only military getting mine would be *possibly* the national guard, not the overseas occupation forces. Unfortunately I don't think they even draw a clear line between those any more.

We're so beyond political party's now. You should be asking yourself do I want my country to survive or go the way of Europe?

Sadly it is our reality. If we didn't fund our military we'd be taken over in a heartbeat. But I am with you on your feelings about our 'occupation'.

By the way I gave you four stars for being so 'thoughtful'.

Libertarian
 Quoting: Oyster

Libertarian? Libertarians would not be for housing and food beinf a right. Or for subsidizing anything.

I would say she is more of a conservative Dem...like a Reagan democrat.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6458701

i think the op has a lot going i could agree with.

the problem with housing is not that the gov should buy anyone an apartment. the problem is that no one can bulid their own place. everything is owned. there should be some place people could homestead if they want. but the rich dont want to see that shit. better to have them live under bridges and bag em when they die of exposure. assholes.

Probably closest to Libertarian, but it looks like you may have some communist and anarchist leanings. I agree with more than half of your views, two notable disagreements are on abortion and the reality of God.

Social Darwinist and Social Libertarian

Social= Left-wing
Economic=Both wings (Small government but still having empathy for the helpless)
You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shitty jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money.

Those are pretty liberal viewpoints.
I agree with most of them....

plus despite what Fox News says, most democrats support the 2nd amendment.

really though, if you support either of the political parties, you are one of the sheeple.

What does voting for the lesser of 2 evils really matter when the corporations and the people who run them wind up running the country anyway?

IMHO the 'ability to vote' is just an illusion that gives the general populace a false sense of 'influence' or 'control' over the outcomes of what goes on in government... It quells the populace and allows them to point the fingers at each other for how they vote rather than question what goes on at the top.

If you really want to see where you are on the political compass, take the test:

[link to www.politicalcompass.org]

I am a left leaning libertarian, at the opposite end of the chart from Barack Obama and Mitt Romney (who are creepily right beside each other on the celebrity chart). Here are my results:

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -5.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.64

The test is 6 pages and takes about 10 minutes to complete (but I'm old and slow). Enjoy.

Re: Am I democrat or republican?
great views op. I must also add that I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea to give medical care to everyone who needs it, but we need to seal up the borders, we can't afford to give it to every mexican who decides to come in illegally.

Also, some government regulation over corporations IS NEEDED, just look at our medical system, it's out of control expensive compared to every other first world nation.

Social libertarian would be a term I would use on myself, though I do have some 'socialist' leanings when it comes to government views, and some conservative ones....

I will repeat. It doesn't matter which political party you're with.

I will repeat. It does not matter. I tell ya, bro. What exactly are you looking for.
