Strange? Why is this happening?

FM. To be exact DC101(101.1) and Hot 99.5 are the stations. DC is less than 45 miles away. Philly is over 120 miles away. Again, this is a daily routine and has never happened. Both stations were clear as day.

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!! They just talked about on the radio. I am now at work listening to the Sports Junkies and they just said a bunch of callers have called in and have radio signal problem and are unable to listen to their program!!!! This is another DC area radio station!

Don't know what to make of it. It seems to be affecting the DC Metro area. Maybe its just some natural phenom an. Maybe it has to do with the sun charging ions making radio signals travel easier. I don't know.

I live in Maryland and have had the same thing for the last 2 days now. I just asked my co-worker if his radio is messed up about 10 minutes ago before seeing this post. He said he has the same thing going and they were talking about it on the radio this morning too. Today seemed to be really bad..I couldn't tune into any radio stations.

In central Illinois yesterday, our portable fm radio was acting up in strange ways. Thought it might be low battery, or station fade, but no.

Funny enough....yesterday I could not get DC101 to come in very well at all...I live in Stafford area and commuted to Dulles area and I can always get it...yesterday the signal for DC101 was filled with static...I didn't get any new stations though. I don't commute today so I haven't listened to the radio today. I wonder....also had a psycho neighbor come over and rant like a lunatic about my cat coming on her property...sun making people crazy too?

When I was listening to the radio yesterday I was tuning into 2 stations at the same time on all the local stations that I have preset on the stereo. Tried other stations and they were either staticky or playing two stations at once. So irritating I had to turn the radio off. Strange indeed.

I tried listening to DC101 today and it was a no go..just statick.

If the stations in Philly are all the same, say Clear Channel or something and have the same syndicated shows, it could be that the Philly stations have engaged a larger transmitter that is drowning out the local D.C. stations. That happens here when a new 'bigger' transmitter goes up. You get more slopover from that station and have a harder time listening to the one you had been listening to.

all somebody had to do is call Philly station and ask if they've increased their transmitter wattage.

I haven't heard a Philly station just static and 2 stations playing at the same time.

As we gain altitude...radio waves will resonate much more powerfully as well as light..
