Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
belief in reincarnation is for people without personal accountability or hope.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19696220

why is that? There would be no purpose naturally or otherwise if there were no god behind it.
I assume you think reincarnation happens 'just because'?
Reincarnation serves no functional natural purpose if there is no god behind it

You don't need a Christian for that, just look in the Bible. There it states that when the soul leaves the body, it returns to the one who created it.

The Bible also talks about those who never had the chance to make a choice, that they will be given the choice in the end to choose who they want to be with.

If you all would spend a little time reading, the Bible will give you all of the answers you seek.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18898068

I'll try to address this question too - I didn't respond earlier b/c it seemed like a 'mocking' type question - not the type that really was looking for an answer.

Anyway, I'm not God, I can't tell you what happens to people under this or under that or different scenarios per se - all I can share with you is what Christ teaches, which applies to everyone alive right now.

I do know that not everyone will believe, thus not everyone will be saved. see (1) And not everyone will keep the faith or His commandments, and they will not be saved either... see (2) this includes some so called Christians as well as Muslims & jewish people and other people of all religions all over the world. That's all a part of God's plan and I can't speak for what He's planned and created - none of us can. We are the pot, He is the potter, and ultimately it's not up to us to know and understand everything like so many of us wish... see (3)

(1) - In Matthew 7 -- 24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

(2) - In Matthew 7 -- 21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

(3) In Romans 9 -- 14What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15For he says to Moses,

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,

and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
f

16It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”g 18Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

19One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who resists his will?” 20But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”h 21Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?

All we can do is just as I said before, accept Christ in your life, love Him and obey all of His commandments, He is faithful and true to His Word.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19232850

God's will would be to love others unconditionally forgive their trespasses. Seek to know Him.

But I can also tell you in Heaven the judgment we receive comes from ourselves and our own guilt and sadness over our failures. God loves us unconditionally.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12339688

1 - ? Are you saying God isn't going to do what Christ says He's going to do? Are you contradicting scripture?

2 - Exactly how can you tell us this - you in heaven right now? Or been there and talking from experience? And if so, did you get there with or without Christ's help? Just wondering.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19232850

If my words contradict scripture it is because when I died and went to Heaven, I was told something that contradicts scripture.

You merely have a version of what Christ said, written down by an imperfect human being which was revised by King James and only God knows who else. According to the Bible we are not suppose to make judgments based on hearsay.

I was a Christian when I died and went to Heaven and I still am, only now I am an unorthodox Christian. Because there is no hell.

Hell is an abscence of God and can only be experienced by getting lost in act of ego or through no attempt or a refusal to seek a relationship with Him.

Ego is satan the great deciever and serpent that rises up in all of us.

Sin is acting in ego and being jealous, vengeful, hateful, etc. It brings guilt which destroys us spiritually and physically.

Language changes by translation and over time. Privy, outhouse, bathroom, toilet. All the same thing.

Believe me or not, it's your choice. Judge me if you want, it doesn't matter. This is my testimony and other than God, I really don't care what others think about it.

I could lie to live up to others expectations of me, but wouldn't my life then be based on a lie? I have no desire or obligation to live up to any human beings expectations. I'm sorry this is all I got.

The logic though is that as we are imperfect and make mistakes based on our understanding of how the world works, no one ever had a chance to knowingly make the "correct" choice.

If I believe in A and you believe in B, we both came to our conclusions because of what we've experienced. How would I know my choice was wrong if the logic that supports the correct choice is faulty to me?

To say that there is a punishment for those who are supposed to know better would contradict the whole idea of requiring faith to avoid punishment.
 Quoting: Brian Moser

Again, the question I think you're asking is 'what about all those who never hear about Christ' or something along those lines. This is a hypothetical question that a human being can never know the answer to - I'm perfectly willing to trust sovereign God to do whatever is best if that hypothetical (and others like it) is ever a reality for someone. What's important though, is that it's not YOUR reality... YOU are hearing people tell YOU about Christ right now, so what are YOU going to do...? Worry about your own soul first (or not), God can handle all this other stuff you're bringing up.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19232850

I'm playing Devil's Advocate here for the sake of discussion, but what I was asking was...

As you just said "YOU are hearing people tell YOU about Christ right now, so what are YOU going to do...?", how do you know my higher power isn't giving the same message to you (from an opposite perspective)?

I mean if faith is the deciding factor and that factor is based on belief without evidence, how would I conclude that my faith is incorrect and that I should be punished for it?

What if we're both wrong? Should we both be punished for having faith in what makes sense to each of us?
 Quoting: Brian Moser

I'm okay right now with this being just for the sake of discussion. To answer, at some point we have to make a decision, just as with anything else. Should I eat that carrot, or that ice cream? One is supposed to be healthier, but is it really? What if they're both bad for you? One can postulate as long as one wants, but at the end, one has to make a some type of choice and live with the consequences.

I've accepted the good news of Christ as Truth, that's my decision, and I'm willing to live with the consequences of that decision, period. If you're fine with whatever your choice is, so be it. We both will find out the truth when we die... or from an atheist's perspective, we won't. That's fine with me. I'm only doing what I've been commanded to do - that's tell you about Christ and warn you what will happen to you if you don't accept Him.

If you choose not to accept Christ, all I'm saying is that you won't be able to plead ignorance - God loved you enough to warn you first about your condition before judging you.

Consider carefully Ezekiel 33 in the Bible:

1The word of the Lord came to me: 2“Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, 3and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, 4then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head. 5Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself. 6But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.’

7“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 8When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die fora his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. 9But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.

Reincarnation is a myth. The matter here is not about it existing or not, it's about what you believe. If you see reincarnation as the only option then chances are that you're going to experience it in the afterlife. But it's all an illusion in the end. The only thing that actually happens to us whether in life or death, is continuous consciousness evolution.

Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
The human ego is loath to let go of it's consciousness and it's place in reality. And so it is that people imagine that in some way they are eternal. You as you exist, came from an evolved gene pool. When you were born you were a blank, as you progressed through your life the blank slate filled, the blank slates pretty much fill with the same things, those are the things we percieve. Consciouness as a human being will continue as long as the human gene pool exists. The consciousness you currently experience as being "you, yourself" with your particular identity, is a fleeting thing and will pass. That you will continue to experience consciousness is undeniable, after all, here you are, what more proof do you need. The you in you and in me, made all of human history and will continue to do so, as long as the collective genetic pool from which we come continues to exist.

yes AC

but you need to specify which type of consciousness is the 'fleeting' one

there are two basic types of consciousness -> egoic and spiritual

the spiritual consciousness of each person is eternal. it cannot be destroyed under any means. it has always existed.

but our ego, it is indeed a temporary thing that must die if we wish to evolve to the next level.

Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
Reincarnation is pure fiction!

But temporary blending of spirits is biblical.
This gift does not interfere with Jesus words or resurrection.
Once the mission is complete the blended spirit return to where it belong before.
How you think the 2 witnesses will appear in the Earth?
There is no other form but just by blending of their spirits with some people here from our actual times.
Once their mission is complete those spirits from ancient prophets will return to where tehy belong.
So there is no confusion, no double death or tose things.
Thing are simple if God reveals it to you!

If by our reckoning, that god is love and god created us, and then LEFT US IN A FUKKKING VACUUM, then he would by love not punish us eternally for our ignorance, but he would, if needs be allow us to learn what works and what doesnt work by playing all parts until we understand that we earn the right to come back home. I cant understand how, as a parent, a parent would destroy or doom an abandoned child that had the truth intentionally withheld from him, although, as many parents do, place a curmountable burden on their offspring to temper them.
So no, I dont see apermanent hell, this place is bad enough, and you get to come back until you get your autism beat out of you and do the proper thing and be called back home, eventually victorious, for a proper reunion.

But who know?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1450718

You are pretty accurate with your understanding from what I know. You do get to go back between the lives even if you didn't learn anything though. LOL You just have to come back and try it again later.

I for one, would like maybe a card, letting me know that dad's there and looks forward to me coming home, because those that claim to be speaking for him sure got some issues...

Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
"Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting.
The Soul that rises with us, our Life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere it's setting,
And cometh from afar;
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come.
From God, who is our home."

Wordsworth.

I just finished reading "Reincarnation" by Emmett Fox (1939), a most enlightening experience.

it's a chick flick because the fundamental hard questions are ignored, and all the fuss is about designing the minor details to get the answers they wanted at the beginning.

Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
Wow, talk about re-writing everything what re-incarnation actually stands for. Total propaganda by a radical christian.

It's like someone intentionally wanting to re-write christianty and claiming all christians believe in drinking blood and eating human flesh because that is what jesus preached.

China Bans Reincarnation Without Government Permission

In one of history's more absurd acts of totalitarianism, China has banned Buddhist monks in Tibet from reincarnating without government permission. According to a statement issued by the State Administration for Religious Affairs, the law, which goes into effect next month and strictly stipulates the procedures by which one is to reincarnate, is "an important move to institutionalize management of reincarnation."

Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
Here is a really good question for Christians:

If Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven why does God give Jewish, Muslims babies. Or does he just them the babies he doesn't want coming back to Heaven?

Because if Christians are right, they are the only ones who can raise a baby to be acceptable to God by teaching them about Jesus.

Wouldn't that whole concept make God an ass? LOL
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12339688

When Jesus says the only way to the father is thru him, means that the only way to God is to recognize why Jesus is here, what he is here for, and why he had to die.

there is no other way.

it is what it is.

Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
Reincarnation ties into the 'you'll never die' lie, 1 out of 3.

The second lie is that man knows everything or can know everything or will know everything.

The third lie is that we can ascend/evolve/transcend into godhood, to be as gods.

There's a blindness in the hearts of people who are into these alternative spirituality teachings, which embraces at least 1 of the list of 3. Most embrace all 3. They can't see the lie for what it is, they're spiritually blind. It's only by the Spirit of God that can remove the veil off one's eyes to discern correctly.
 Quoting: Fidokrab

the thing about nirvana is that you don't ascend anywhere. you simple cease to exist, become completely void and detached of anything and everything. this is supposed to be bliss? even the Buddhists don't know.

Re: Reincarnation: Fact or fiction?
...

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19232850

But, not to go in circles here, how does one conclude that it is a warning?

For example, let's refer to someone who is very left-brained... Their brain is going to only allow them to accept conclusions through evidence. At the most, they would be considered to be agnostic. To that person, your warning would be of no threat once they consider a logic that exposes them to reasonable doubt.

To that type of person, a life that revolves around faith is simply superstitious. It would be no more of a warning to believe the Bible to prevent Hell than to avoid breaking a mirror out of fear of bad luck.

How would that person not plead ignorance? The original point I was getting at was that we all are innocent, not just children, for being who we are and accepting what we we are able to accept.
