Chemical treatment of water(iodine, chlorine, bleach) and other ideas
Hey everyone. I am looking to get some input on long term chemical water treatment. Lets say ts does htf and i need to be surviving on natural water sources for months. Other than boiling water which I know is the best option. Is there any form of chemical treatment like Iodine or bleach or chlorine that if used frequently for long periods of time wont hurt you? I have heard many things but what can happen if iodine treatment is used frequently to clean water over long periods of time. Or how much is safe to use? and how often. Thanks in advance for the help.

The idea for me is i don't want to spend 300 dollars on a physical filter... but should I? Iodine is cheap

I have heard 16 drops of household chlorine bleach to one gallon of water will help to disinfect.

Boiling gets rid of critters. Bleach does the same thing. The only way to remove toxins from water is through distillation or reverse osmosis. Look on the internet for a basic sand filter and you will survive. If you want pure water you are going to have to pony up some serious cash.
