DOOM! Food prices expected to soar as U.S. corn crop withers under drought!
"What looks to be the worst U.S. drought in a quarter of a century has given rise to an old-fashioned commodity rally on world markets, with key grain prices hitting highs which caused food crises in vulnerable parts of the globe last time around."

My question, fellow GLPers, is...

Have you noticed any increase in "crop" goods this summer in your local area?

Coffee (beans), wheat, dairy, corn, etc.?

Are your grocery bills actually going up?

Is this REAL DOOM?

Have you noticed any price changes recently?

Please do share your thoughts.

Nostradamus predicted a great drought along the world's grain belt, did he not?

glad you asked

Just sittin in the middle of my bed going over checking accounts, have rec.for grocery bill from 2 days ago out so looked on it for the flour/corn meal.

cheap GV flour 5 pound bag $2.32...
Cheap GV corn meal 5 pounds $2.42

Looked at the other name brands and had sticker shock!
$4.50 and up

Dried beans and rice are way up!
corn-beef hash per can is crazy, cheap shit is $1.88 per can(small can)

black beans are $1.42 for a small pack
navy is cheaper at $1.08 small pack

Coffee is way up so i bought the folgers very dark that was on sale so i can mix with even cheaper brand i have.

Makes it last longer at half the price and i cant tell the diff in flavor cause i hit all coffee with creamer.

folgers was 8.98 for 11.3? ounces

Thank you for sharing that info!

Seems like the price increasing has already begun and "name" brands will likely rise faster.

We need more data and input from others to see if this trend is legit across the board or more localized still.

True economic food doom would effect almost everyone immediately.

Well... it's not like a food shortage or massive food price increase across the globe effects anyone. This thread should clearly get no attention or discussion.

I wonder how Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are doing?

Now that's important!

^^^ This is what I noticed. It aint healthy for me, but I seasonal/sale shop, so it is difficult to detect true increases.

But my jaw dropped when the store brand chili beans were on sale for $1.09/can and the shelf was empty. name brands were $1.70+

The sheep should be taking this very seriously. But they are too stupid.
In fact, I give them way too much credit for using the words 'seriously' & 'sheep' in the same sentence.

But really, they should be using this as a warning flag to stock their cupboards and freezers.

But pfffft, they just think there will be big macs aplenty for years to come..

True, I just had sticker shock at the grocery store yesterday and I go several times a week so this is new. Some things have not increased yet, but organic chicken was too expensive, organic eggs $5 per dozen, several other things noticeably higher than last week. Coffee is becoming a luxury! Veggies are up. We eat really healthy which is already difficult to afford.

If you have a Fred's in your area go stock up on coffee.
They have the small bricks for $2.50, tastes like folgers.

Prices going up quickly. Most noticeable large increase to me is the ground beef going from $1.99lb in Dec. to $2.99lb for the last month.

Thanks for all the replies so far everyone!

I'm surprised and concerned to hear that some prices on products might be going up already. I heard that many coffee crops were flooded this spring, not surprised that the premium brands are escalating.

Anyone who cares to... please keep us informed. I believe we will see this increase very rapidly in the weeks to come.

What the gubermint fails to tell us is that there are reserves of corn. Plenty of reserves. It's all a game to fleece everyone out of their money.

BUT...

if actual corn stock supplies are depleted due to drought and record breaking heat...

WHO will have acess to that stored surplus?

The "common" sheeple or the ruling elite (1%)?

Remember when candy bars would be on sale for 25 cents each then 3 for a dollar and now 50 cents is a good sale price.

money printing is causing 12% per month inflation. Other pressures will cause their changes as well. Like 42% increase in corn futures was drought.
