House floor in Maceio (Brazil) overheats to 80° C and intrigue experts, the owner and neighbors
A house located on San Luis Sreet, district of Ponta Grossa, in Maceió, has puzzled owner, neighbors and authorities, trying to figure out what is causing the overheating of the floor of the residence. On Thursday (12), teams from the Fire Department, Institute of Environment (IMA), Civil Defense and Municipal officials Municipal Supervision and Control Urban Gathering (SMCCU) are inspecting the site in an attempt to solve the mystery.

According Ademir Pereira, owner of the property in recent days the temperature of the floor of the residence began to rise in a mysterious way and reached 80 degrees. "I built this house 27 years ago and never did anything like that. It's all very strange. She was hired, but the last two days this month, the tenant gave the keys, scared of what's happening, "said Ademir.

Residents living near the site and report that they are frightened at night come to feel a smell of something burning coming from the house Ademir Pereira.

The President of the Institute of the Environment (IMA), Adriano Augusto, said he had never seen similar phenomenon. After preliminary investigations that were not successful, the technical director of the IMA, Richard Caesar, decided to convene Eletrobras Distribution Alagoas engineers to investigate the source of the problem.

"We will collect samples of soil and water to try to elucidate the case. We also call some engineers to evaluate some products that may be passing by, causing the problem, "said Ricardo Augusto. Samples will be analyzed in the laboratory. In the late afternoon, members of the Department of Geology, Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal) will visit the site.

Braskem and Petrobras have found the place and ruled out leakage of flammable gas coming from the pipe passing through the region.

As a precaution, the area was cordoned off by the Fire Department, until the mystery is solved.

I live in another city of the Northeast. All of the Northeast coast is very beautiful. But Maceió has an incredibly beautiful sea.

I visited Maceió a couple times. Stunning place... A pity if it blows up with a supervolcano eruption!!

Idk but a similar incident happened in Argentina relatively recently. It was posted here and the link contained interviews with the family living there. Same thing, floor started heating up one day without reason or explanation. Both incidents on the southern hemisphere.

dont forget 80° C is 80% of the way to boiling. 176 is quite arbitrary.

Before we call super volcano, wouldn't it stand to reason that more than one house in the area would have the same phenomena? Unless this place is super isolated...which I doubt if the neighbors are smelling a burning smell...

What could cause the floor to heat up like that, maybe the house sits on an ancient leigh (or lay?) line.
