Google is doing to memory what executives do to businesses. We aren't getting dumber, and we aren't getting smarter. We are simply processing data in a more streamlined way. You look something up, you get the critical information on the subject, and that's what you go off of. The details that you could specialize on the topic with you simply toss out.

It's giving people more total topics of knowledge, but less in depth knowledge of that information. It's also stimulating people to fill in those gaps when the topic comes up and you have to refer back in your memory.

Not a bad way of doing it, just different. Remove the waste information, retain the good stuff. Just like business, who cares how you did it, why you did, or how long it may or may not take you to do, as long as it gets done. The results driven brain.
