Huge solar flare shoots out particles at 3million mph as scientists predict weekend of powerful sunstorms

This weekend is set to see a number of huge solar storms - just days after the largest flare of the summer so far.

A storm expected to arrive on Saturday morning and continue throughout Sunday will slam in to the earth's magnetic field - but scientists insist that most people will not be affected by the celestial activity.

The storm began on Thursday when a sunspot unleashed a massive flare that hurled a cloud of highly charged particles racing toward Earth at 3million mph.
