From my point of view here in blighty, that's okay, because we're heading north to do some Aurora spotting, so the later it hits the better.. but I was under the impression we were going to get it at 09.00UT, which is 9.00am right? I've been watching the KP index and the solar wind, and it's as quiet as a kitten... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1792728 Is it possible it missed us/they got the forecast wrong? Doubtful, plenty of ppl just here on GLP watching it, there's a huge thread on solar stuff. LanMan User ID: 19649783 United States 07/14/2012 09:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | CME was supposed to arrive around 5:17 EST or 2:17 PST. Supposedly, as some people were speculating, there were to be some power outages and other problems. Auroral map on NOAA Space Weather Now shows nothing out of the ordinary at both the N and S poles. [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Non-event, so far? |

Since when does NASA or even NOAA get TIMING RIGHT??? We should all know better?? I don't think the CME has hit yet? I would say that they are usually off of about 4-6 hours??? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 19749428 United States 07/14/2012 11:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont know what to think anymore. You follow stuff for years, not meaning just what this topic is about, but everything in general and nothing seems to be as we were led to believe. We have studied radiation effects in school for example and had it preached into our head we would all die if something like Chernobyl or Fukushima and yet we are all still here and in the same shape for the most part.Yes it affected some tragically but not on the scope we were taught in school. We hear all the time about flares, cme s etc and hardly anything ever happens. Now I am left wondering if we are brought into this world with fear pushed at us from the time we are old enough to understand until we die. Somehow I just dont think thats what life was suppose to be.Yes I prepare for natural disasters and I keep food ahead for a month but I think from here on out its just going to be one day at a time for me. |
