Tell me how you get your understanding from Genesis chapter 1 and 2? The moon was used the way we record months. We have numbered the days in our months. But they don't always fall on the same week day. For instance, I could be born on the 11th moon and the 5th day of that month. The 5th day of the 11th moon might be what we call "wednesday". But the 5th day of 7th moon that year could have been on a Monday. So the WEEKDAYS the 5th falls on each moon differ. Just like the current monthly calender we use. You can change the numbers all you want, but the days always fall in the same order: SUnday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. The Jewish week has ALWAYS been the same. Every Jewish scholar will tell you that, it is always a 7 day week. They have some holiday sabbaths that occur during the week. But they always acknowledge the 7 day week cycle and THE SABBATH that is every 7 days. Nothing changes their 7 day cycle. Last Edited by liquidsmooth on 07/14/2012 03:05 PM |

It is a day NEVER sanctified by the Bible. So why are you picking Sunday to worship God on? Cause it is YOUR choice, because there is not one piece of scripture telling you to do so. God tells us not to judge any man in the keeping of a holy day or a sabbath. But God never said a word about not keeping THE SABBATH. The Sabbath actually identifies who God is. It is the ONLY commandment that tells you who the Creator is and why you should keep any of the other 9 commandments. So it seems like the one commandment which is the biggest deal to break. No wonder people use to be put to death for breaking it. It took me a long time to understand why God would want people put to death for breaking the Sabbath. I remember reading that as a child and thinking "Wow, that is pretty harsh. Seems almost wrong to put someone to death for breaking it." But it doesn't seem like such a harsh penalty when you figure out how the Sabbath ties into all the commandments deeply. Also when you keep a different day, you are bearing FALSE witness. The Sun didn't create anything. God created EVERYTHING. And we keep the SABBATH in rememberance that GOD created EVERYTHING. Not only that, but the word for Sabbath existed in many languages before there was ever a Jewish people. Last Edited by liquidsmooth on 07/14/2012 03:39 PM |

No jewish or Jewish scholar I know teach your unbiblical teaching. The Sabbath is not lunar. Read Genesis. Pretty simple to figure it out. Tell me how you get your understanding from Genesis chapter 1 and 2? A new moon did not change the day of the week, no more than if tomorrow became december. Let's say today is thursday. Even if tomorrow was December, everyone on earth would still know it is Friday (the 6th day of the week). It would be the 1st day of December, but would still be the 6th day of the week (Friday). The moon was to help divide periods of time. But it was never was used to tell the start of a week, only the start of a new month. Now there are lesser sabbaths in the bible that are based on other things beside the 7 day week. But the 7th day Sabbath was always observed every 7 days by the jewish people and there is no record otherwise. And sometimes they had 2 sabbaths in one week. But the lesser sabbath never marked the end of the week. And these lesser sabbaths are sabbaths the Bible says not to judge a man for not keeping. But it makes absolutely no sense to disregard the weekly sabbath commandment when it IDENTIFIES who the creator is, and gives us the reason to keep the other 9 in the first place. |

It was not meant for anyone before them or after them. Worship on any day of the week you like. Most people choose Sundays because of tradition and nothing else. And people worship on different days of the week as well, especially Wednesdays. So worship God but don't get hung up on the day of the week. |

I was merely reacting to your statement that the OP was following Pharisaical traditions by observing the Shabbat. The Pharisee are now known as Hasidic jewish people or Orthodox jewish people. Those guys in the black suits, funny hats and curly sideburns as long as they can grow them. Those dudes are following a stack of rules that are nearly impossible to adhere to, it's really sad. You'd be amazed as some of the insane things they believe are "Sin". I guess I should make sure to include my usual disclaimer: I do not disobey, but I also do not judge. Sure, I've had my moments where I have judged others, I'm so far from perfect it's laughable. I know that it's grace that has saved my ass, not my works, lest anyone else state otherwise. My works are nothing more than my showing my love and obedience to my Deity and nothing more. How others determine their path to Him is between them and the Elohim. None of my business. However, that said, I do reserve my right to express my own beliefs in discussion. "When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?" — John M.
