I pledge allegiance to the flag. Reciting it today, made me mourn the loss of our individual freedom!

I don't pledge allegiance to any flag, I am for my family, my friends, and my fellow man. A flag holds no true meaning because it is just a piece of cloth, to sacrifice your life for a worthless piece of cloth has to the be most stupid thing ever. My grandfather fought in WWII, and he did so to protect his family and friends, he didn't do so out of any allegiance to his country or flag, he did so because he felt he was fighting for his people, and who wouldn't kill to protect their family and friends? He is the bravest man I know, and he deserves my respect and allegiance. After the war his country deserted him when he needed help, so he decided to sell his war medals just so he could live due to there being no work for him when he returned from the war. Your country asks a lot of you, and gives very little in return, words mean nothing, action means a lot, but you will be shafted by your leaders, and that piece of cloth you call a flag will only be useful for keeping the fire going in the hearth.
