My Tiny House on Wheels

There is storage area galore. I had everything I needed with me. And much less to clean.

Especially working people, how much time during the day do they spend at home? Mainly to eat and sleep.

One year we emptied most of what I had into my storage shed, and took two weeks traveling through several states, I did that twice that year. A trip with each of my children and their family. And, we took our pets too. I really miss it at times.

i think perhaps you should refresh your 'knowledge' of uk housing. and dont lump us all together. europe is, after all, a very varied place. unlike homogenous north america

plus, we dont have the wide open spaces you have. the cheap land. and you dont have ancient towns and cities that grew up organically

us 'europeans' have apartments just like the US does, we also have various sized houses

just in case you were imagining we all live in stacked shoeboxes

Or you can rehab an old yacht to make a floating house.

I love these tiny houses. If we lived in homes that small, we would be outside more, living instead of lazing or working ourselves to death to pay for the big house.

And float it out into international waters. No property tax. LOL

yep. humans are not made to live in spaces that size. nor do we have to these days. ok, if you are on your own and you want to travel around for whatever reason. you couldnt do this with a family, it would drive everyone nuts

and someone said they had a tiny house on 50 acres. what? why on earth would you have all that land and not build something just a little more substantial? its not like you couldnt spare just a bit of land

and i say again - this is what THEY want. and if THEY get their way, theyll have that 50 acres off you eventually

again, i get that this might be just the thing for some people, but not the majority

i say fuck them, spread out as much as you can. take up space. those fuckers want the land to be off limits. everyone corralled in permitted zones. its not even their land! christ, what a miserable future, and some people are actively enabling it

Living in a small house as a choice has nothing to do with how much money you have. Poor is no money.

Wealth is not determined by the size of your home.

Living debt free with plenty of money is far wealthier than a mortgage to stress you out.

Good idea. Just do it with several like minded folks. Right now, some folks are getting ready to build floating cities and I believe it'll be a big hit.

Seems like when you get over a few hundred people together, someone is always trying to get over on others. Seriously sucks.

It's one thing to choose to do this kind of thing, but it's an entirely different matter that you are forced to live this way because of the misdeeds of the money lords and you are forced economically to live this way....

There is no dignity to be found to live frugally while those who caused this situation to continue to live more extravagantly year after year while the economy worsens! This is their proposed future for you, you dumb people!

Basically, this should be nothing more than a travel trailer or a camp house, not a way a replacement for our traditional homes.

Actually, I compromised, I gave it to my son-in-laws family, where it was at a huge farm, with a redecorated barn and we put in many fun hours playing, those of us who weren't played slot machines ( it had it's own coins)

I haven't been there in years, but the children still gather there.

But, many camps are set up with recreations areas.

that girl is pimp. she has skills that most men do not have. I'm surprised she doesn't have an awesome man at her side, or at least one I can see. I'm married but a girl that can do that kind of construction is attractive as hell in my opinion. Skills equal attractiveness to me.

Cost was around 10k plus the sheetrock, electrical and plumbing.

It was easy to cool but difficult to heat. In my situation a small travel trailer probably would have been better.

But now im throwing my money at renting overpriced apartments in the city.

Well, of course it isn't for everyone. There are so many people in very bad situations that could benefit greatly from this. Try thinking of others less fortunate than yourself.

Most rural areas for homesteading require 5 acres. No matter the size of your home. It is a big job taking care of that much land too.

I live in a 1200-square foot house with my significant other. But I built a 60 square foot bunker in the back yard, and ya know, I can EASILY see myself living pretty contentedly in a whole lot less than 1200 square feet if I should outlive the woman.

The key, I think, is to have enough space...but no more than you actually need and use. For example, of our 1200 square feet, probably 200 square feet is the dining room, which we never use. Wasted space. Costs money to heat and cool though, and costs property taxes. A lot of the space in the house is like that, wasted space, meaning wasted money.

I think I could live quite happily in around 300-400 square feet if I were alone, maybe less. I can live in the 60 square foot bunker I built, actually, for the most part, and it has TWO bunks. If I eliminated one of the bunks and hogged the whole 60 square feet to myself, then I dunno, it'd almost feel spacious, which is why I think 300-400 square feet would be plenty for one person.

I know... It's so funny how these people think that they are flipping the bird at The Powers That Suck, when in reality, it's an elitists wet dream come true... lol. Serfs that not only live like a rodent, but actually think they are smart by doing so.

The criminal "elite" live in their mega mansions, in the lap of exorbitant luxury, while the "smart" serfs live in shoe boxes, thinking that they are kicking the Scum That Be's asses. Not realizing that this is what the Scum That Be had in mind for them all along. The NEW "American Dream"...

BTW, my comments have zero to do with 'sticking it to the man'. If I don't need and don't use more than 300-400 square feet of space, I don't see why I should deal with the upkeep and cost of more. Less wasted space means less work. Simple as that, really. I guess some people do a lot of entertaining or have big families or whatever, so they actually use and need 2500 square feet and a pool or whatnot. There's room in the world for people who don't need or want a lot of space just as there's room in the world for those who do. Different strokes for different folks.

It'll never work. Too many slackers in this world. I can't even get people to clean up after themselves in the laundry room in my apartment complex. They're good at bitching but never pitching in. Very frustrating.

I lived in a small cabin (about 400 sq ft) off and on for several years with five other family members. A couple of acres next to a park on the shores of Lake Michigan. I get home sick just thinking about. Best time of my entire life.

Don't get me started on that. Here we literally have trashcans every ten feet yet people choose to ruin the beautiful atmosphere by throwing their shit on the ground anyways. I'm constantly picking up their trash they leave scattered around and taking literally 1 or 2 steps to put it in the trash can.

Sweeet! The only question I have is, doesn't the loft get hot, thus making it difficult to sleep in the Summer?

It works for those who are willing to make the effort.

In the loft area there are windows and a ceiling fan. In the small cabin we built we had a sky light that opened up over the loft and port window with screen over the front door to allow for air flow.
