Let me further the connection to what I believe is the main cause , gravity .

Furthering the connection , the solar system is aproaching a dense arm of our galaxy ( dense in stars , FAR more than the nearby space ) which means more exposure to more intense gravity fields , hence an increase in the force mixing/tormenting both the Earth and the Sun . That closes the circle of Actions .
