Re: Fibonacci Numbers and the Golden Section
Good site!!

Here's a related interesting site that claims to be able to construct a square and circle of equal area, using a straight edge and compass.

I didn't understand all of the reasoning, but I will return to the site, and the results sure did look close!

Rap wif ya' later.

Re: Fibonacci Numbers and the Golden Section
The discussion in the site is fairly conventional and superficial. It does not reveal what is the REAL meaning and relevance to Nature of the Fibonacci numbers and Golden Ratio. The five Platonic solids, based upon the proportions of root 2, root 3 and root 5, are merely the starting point for solid geometry. As is typical, the website makes no mention of this. The culmination of solid geometry is the Catalan solid called the disdyakis triacontahedron. Look at it at [link to en.wikipedia.org]
It is formed by raising the golden rhombic faces of the rhombic dodecahedron so as to form pyramids. The ratio of the lengths of the two diagonals of each face is the Golden Ratio. It has recently been proved to be the polyhedral counterpart of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. As such, it embodies information about the nature of subatomic particles, as well as other holistic systems. See Articles 22-30 at [link to www.smphillips.8m.com]
