actually, by the time he told Joe the Plumber he had to "spread the wealth" and previously told us because of his implementation of alternative energy (scams) that the price of electricity would "necessarily skyrocket" - I mean, what more can he say to suprise us?

Maybe now after 4 years of suffering because Obama didn't share his "stash" - people MIGHT start to get tired and pay attention. We can only hope. The rest of us were convinced he was a dangerous nutjub a long, long time ago.

We NEVER had an employee work for "minimum wage". They stared at 10 to 12 dollars an hour and were bumped up as soon as they showed their competence and enthusiasm. And MANY times, because of bills and taxes etc took home more a week than us.

And as soon as their hard work payed off for us in increased revenue they were rewarded with a raise.

If they didn't "cut it", they were gone. And the ones who did were with us for years, and happy with both their wages and the respect we treated them with.

And our business was funded with the sale of my house in L.A. and my partners 401k and such. No loans. My business partner and my names were on the lease and everything else and if it failed, we lost more than just a job. WE took all the risk, and shared fairly (without a complaint) with everyone who worked WITH us along the way.

We worked hard, many more hours into the night at home doing books and things, and created a group of people who worked as a team. Not a hierarchy of power with the ones at the top making the most. It reflected in our employees attitudes (sometimes they would come in and work for free if they didn't have anything to do) and in the fact that we NEVER advertised. All we did was hold charity events for the community. Sending kids to camp, benefits for families of fallen soldiers and firemen, therapy dog associations etc. We worked hard to become a part of a community. I shouldn't be proud of all that?

It isn't like he is any more dangerous than any other career politician.

This entire thread is based on the principle, business owners owe no one appreciation or gratitude except themselves.

This is where our society is headed and it is a sad state of affairs.

you do realize our economy isn't built on the back of one person per business who deserves 5% of all wealth.

If you started a business for the most part you have employees that do your work, you have customers that purchase your product, you have people at all levels and facets that work with you.

I guess if you are ignorant enough to think that you wouldn't have a problem with the wal mart family owning more than a third of the country, which includes millions of people who work for them harder than any of them have ever worked, for minimum wage.

It was a message to his constituents... the leech-like handout crowd: "You're entitled to what they have... you helped them build it".

That is why you fail. As I said before self-delusion is the great enemy of mankind. Leave out politics, left, right, liberal, or conservative. How did civilization come about? it wasn't an individual who said, "I think we need a community." It was a gradual process of cooperation between family and close kin. Then it was figured out that it would be more beneficial to include non family into the fold thus civilization ensued.

Walmart is a coporate structure. Corporate structures place no value on the human being building the business dream.

What he's saying is really about the same thing: Everything belongs to the government...someone else (government) allowed a way for a private person to own a business,because they allowed the person to operate under the ruling government...

If it wasn't for wal mart a lot of people would be hurting. Wal Mart is Americas largest employer, an most who work there are happy. From time to time a union thug will complain about them but I take that with a grain of Socialist salt.

While I vehemently disagree with what Obama said, I have to say that it does seem to bring out what appears to be a bunch of totally selfish bast*rds. I mean, the posts ARE all me, me, me. I'm not trying to be self entitled to everything as I am a business owner; however, we see this self-entitlement throughout the spectrum of society.

Big corporations can go overboard with entitlement, but I've seen people walk out of the government welfare offices expecting everything for nothing.
