Re: What exactly is the difference between the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God?
the Kingdom of Heaven is not.

The Kingdom of Heaven is not the same thing as heaven. When the New Testament uses the phrase “the Kingdom of Heaven” it is not referring to heaven. Instead it is referring to the Millennial Kingdom which has been ordained from heaven, that is, from God -- hence the interchangeability between "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Kingdom of God." Unfortunately too many people have heard a great deal of preaching and teaching about heaven as the hope of a Christian and consequently think that “the Kingdom of Heaven” and “heaven” are the same. They are not. The Kingdom of Heaven is a kingdom from heaven, not a kingdom in heaven. God reigns supreme in heaven. Heaven is the locus of His authority – the point from which He rules the universe. The words “of heaven” then are referring to the origin of this Kingdom. It is the place from which the Kingdom is coming, not a destination to which we are going. So we see that although the Kingdom of Heaven is heavenly in character and origin, it is not the same thing as heaven. To avoid the confusion between heaven and the Kingdom of Heaven, and since the term "Kingdom of God" occurs much more frequently in the Bible, it is the "Kingdom of God" that is preferred when describing the future kingdom in which Jesus will reign as king.

Yes, kind of, but, it is not above, it is centre, it is the source and centre of all things.
A realm or kingdom is a collection of peoples or beings. The kingdom of God is it's creation, it's realm within the creation that surrounds the source and centre.
Heaven is not a place, it is a state of being, it is the ultimate goal to reach within every being. Heaven is the centre, it is where the Universal Father of all creation resides. The Universal Father is not a being as such, it is consciousness, it is the giver of light, it resides in heaven which is a state of existence, it is the total existence of the creation, it is love, and each and every being created is capable of reaching, achieving it, being one with God, being in a state, a condition if you like of heaven.
It is all one and the same, it is a level of conscious understanding.

Re: What exactly is the difference between the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God?
Why does Matthew go on and on about the "kingdom of heaven" when Luke, Mark and John use the term "kingdom of God" in the exact same places?

In Matthew, there are 31 places where Jesus is quoted as saying "the kingdom of heaven is like..." or "kingdom of heaven" but it is never quoted like that in the other gospels. Luke, Mark and John all refer to the same quotes as "kingdom of God." There are 63 instances of the term "kingdom of God" in the other three gospels combined.

It is my understanding that both terms mean the exact same thing. But, why would Matthew use the word heaven and not God. Which word did Jesus actually say? I am leaning toward that Jesus used the word "God" as the other three apostles quote him in such a way.

I wonder if Matthew changed the word in order to not offend the je ws that he was speaking to, and the fact that the other apostles were speaking mostly to Gentiles?

But, Matthew uses the word God in other places, so that theory doesn't hold up.

It is clear that the "kingdom of heaven" and Heaven are not the same thing. This is clarified by many other scriptures collectively. The "kingdom of heaven" refers to the Millennial Kingdom, which is a term that I have yet to study and do not comprehend fully at this point.

I am sure the God haters and Christian bashers will come forward and troll the thread. I don't care, really. But, if some students of the word want to chime in and help me with this concept, it will help me to get through this next leg in my studies at seminary.

The Kingdom of God is within all of us:

Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

But the Kingdom of Heaven is my Fathers 'house' - which is perhaps is in another dimension...

John 14 2-3
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

i won't ask this professor that question because he is an historian. this class is a history of the new testament class.

second, there is nothing that says God was removed from the universe. so, asking that would make me look like a chump.

questions to this prof have to be from a historical/archaelogical standpoint.

"the machine theory that came along in the 17th century gave a different kind of theology. God was like a machine maker who designed and made all the machinery of life as it were from outside. It was casting god in the image of technological man. God was like an engineer and a mathematician and the forms and purposes of things came from outside not from inside. When living organisms were thought of as organisms they possessed their own purposes, their own goal. What this revolution did was took the purposes and goals and shapes and forms , the designs, as they were called out of living organisms and put them outside nature into the mind of god"
