U.S. drought now the biggest since 1956 and is likely to cause dramatic surge in food pricess
siren2 siren2 siren2 siren2

Over half of the nation is gripped in a seemingly endless drought, brought on by the onslaught of continuous and brutal triple digit temperatures that began nearly a month ago. As you will see with the articles below, it is becoming a very serious situation. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is calling it a “natural disaster of epic proportions”. Nearly 70% of the U.S. is in some state of drought, a climate agency says, which is leading many to fear that this drought will continue throughout the summer. Unless the United States receives a significant amount of rainfall within the next 8 – 14 days (which is highly unlikely), the drought will entire a cycle of low humidity and increasingly hot temperatures which will (in the long term) lead to a barren and Earth-cracked landscape. In retrospect, Tropical Storm Debby pounded Florida (a state which was already in severe drought) with rainfall amounts exceeding 20 inches and within hours, rivers in Florida went from being in a drought into major flood stage. Tropical Storm Debby was just a mere reminder of the amount of rain that a vast majority of the United States needs right now. With no rain relief in sight and wells constantly evaporating all across the country, it leads me to wonder just what the future may hold for the United States of America.

Even doom lovers are not gonna like what this heat is bringing.
Most the crops, Are done its to late even if rain comes. Crops so small here in Ohio that corn may not even be able to be harvested for sillage.

Ponds down about 5 ft since may ground is going to dust rather quickly.

It does sound terrible! I could not believe my eyes when I saw how dry the ground was. I think this is going to cause a famine.

The present catastrophic DROUGHT and deadly HEAT WAVES
was PREDICTED this past APRIL 15, 2012...

The corn crops require RAIN... of which has not come...
and now over 74% of all feedcrop used to make foodstuffs
that hit the markets will NOT!

Soon food prices WILL SKY ROCKET... like it or not...
first 4%... then 7% and by October 25%...
for any that can be found... there will be great shortages

Ranchers are selling off their BEEF at cheep prices as
there is no feed for their livestock... and it will get
much worse!

And... REDUNDANT!!!! it's going to get much WORSE

Give it two more weeks and 20 to 50 yer old trees will be done for. Last week we lost more moisture than the previous three, and it will continue on this march until we hit critical drought, start growing Agave!

I bought corn yesterday in Ohio from a local market with local grown crops. the corn was literally rotten, half grown, mushy on the top and bottom, threw it all out. 4 different ears. Signs are not looking good.

That seems to be the situation across much of the U.S.

"Farmers and businesses are already bracing for a surge in crop prices as major shortages are expected in this year’s harvests. It’s affecting animal farms, as well, both because feed prices will rise and because some farmers will be forced to cull some of their herds, glutting the market with increased supplies of meat. The industry is also expecting to see more than $1 billion in crop insurance payouts this year, much of which comes through government programs."
