Banks want more money so they made a false boom.

Buy housing at huge discounts, turn around and drive the price up to profit.

... Sounds about right.

They should not be building any more houses, period. The inventory on the market needs to be worked through first and don't forget the "shadow inventory" the banks are holding onto. There is a glut of housing and you don't build more of something in a glut.

They purposely caused the housing bubble to pop. Home prices were getting way to high for investors. The return was to low. So they made the bubble bust on the count that home prices would fall. Now they can get homes at dirt cheap prices, turn around and sell them for maximum profit. TPTB have done a Blockbuster agenda on the whole of this country. It used to be only in certain city and certain blocks but that wasn't enough. Blockbusting has been so successful for TPTB that this time around they did it to the whole country. Think of the profits for these elite. You have higher than expected sales due to higher than expected Blockbusting. Nothing being built really, just a bunch of homes being bought by TPTB at flea market prices. Of course your gonna have a boom.

This is crazy. ARe they building ghost cities like in China? Or are they counting new "projects?" Something's fishy here.

Vacant houses everywhere and they build more? Who can afford to buy them? Everyone's credit is ruined.

coincidentally enough, you start mass wildfires, burn out hundreds of houses, and they need rebuilt. Well the ones they are going to let rebuild anyway, most of it was just a land grab for more wells and to chase the people out of the area.

In Florida whole subdivisions are just vacant and rotting. Condominiums took a 75% cut in value, and whole buildings sit empty and unused, so what's the answer?

Build more houses of course!!!

It's the cheap interest rates that are driving this, but with rates so cheap for so long, people only want "New" houses, the value of existing houses is still dropping, meaning your house is now like your car, a constantly depreciating asset!

Ok, I just chatted with a friend at another forum who is a retired general contractor. Here is how it works, home builders have to keep building! No one is renovating, commercial and government projects are way down.

So, contractors are like Doozers on Fraggle Rock, they'll build whether it's needed or not. This is not a positive sign, it's sick desperation.

Don't get giddy about those numbers. Clearly you don't know how the game works. Happens with unemployment, GDP, CPI. The initial number they release is not the real number. No, you have to wait until next month to get something like the truth.

Next month they'll quietly issue the "revised" numbers which will show housing starts were in actuality substantially lower than than 760k. See how the game works? Initially issue a great number that everyone's happy with and then "revise" it later.

I was born rich, never worn the same pair of socks twice.
Gus Gorman:What do you do with your socks?
Ross Webster:I don't know, they're laundered and sent to some charitable institution, I think. Actually, I don't know what they do with them. Maybe they turn them into dust rags or pen wipers or something like that.
Gus Gorman:Or maybe socks.
