When we become too emotionally attached to our perspectives, it creates too much potential for discomfort and internal conflict in the form of cognitive dissonance when we are presented with information that conflicts with any particular set of beliefs. Best to remain malleable and open to change. Investing too much emotion in your beliefs will cloud your judgement and restrict your awareness.
