A local optometrist with a thriving store abducted his 2 daughters. With his mother's help - she moved with them - they established a life in Nicaraugua, I believe. That continued for about a year and a half. Finally someone made a mistake and the situation was uncovered. The 2 girls were returned sickly but alive, the father tried and probably in prison, I am not sure what happened with his mother. The case was front-page news here. Sometimes someone has to make a mistake. The girls were informed by their father that the mother had died, and that is why they never tried to contact her.
