then what do you think the purpose of this is? it can only help protect people. if youtube wanted they can still remove the blur

this tool is going to be coupled with a complaint form, and they can sensor anyone they don't like.

SO if a really bad thing is caught on camera in public, If the person does not like it, they can sensor themselves out of the video.

you can bet your ass if they got software to detect a face in a photo, they are scanning them into facial recognition databases.

embolden the public to release vids....false sense of security....
and then give the uncensored vids (originals) to the feds.

No one should need to be blurring their faces out, unless they have something to be ashamed over.
Its just gonna be used by people to get away with stuff.

HMMM> So, like the girl that google earth street view captured outside her home completely naked could go to youtube, find a video where someone is talking about it and has the pic in their video--she herself can blur her face (so no-one else can see who it is) or only the person who uploaded.

Right now, they are saying the person who uploaded can do this, but you think in the future it could be the people featured. That sounds like a good idea, imo but I'm a private person.

People shouldn't do gross things in public anyway but seriously, has anyone not picked their underwear out of the butts (hands outside of pants) when they were teens after they looked around and thought they could get away with it for the 2 seconds it took? Is it necessary to have that replayed on youtube for the rest of your life because a security camera caught it or someone with an iphone just happened to round the corner at that very moment...LOL.

this. especially bullying videos. bonehead bullies are too stupid to not upload their attacks on victims and many have been caught this way.

Just hand that video over to us, we'll take care of the editing for you. No, don't worry, only the blurred version gets uploaded. What's that? The original file? Oh, that gets deleted of course.

i still believe that the OWS protesters - that some were actors.

So many Times i see Pics from People
in absurd Situations (Festivals for example)

This Cam-Thing got out of Proportion
and need to get killed (in a way)

The Face Indentification is already there,
make it available for the User too
and not only for three letter Agencies!

and they dont have that already in walmart?
on the streets?
in schools/buses?
airports et al etc

I think this youtube feature will give everyone a false sense of anonymity (sp?)

If you upload a video to youtube and there software does the facial blurring....then youtube has a copy of the original video with the un-blurred faces. I can't believe that youtube won't save a copy of the original.

Interesting observation.

The government has all the backdoor keys to this software so they can find out who's protesting anytime they want.

That's because Youtube will obviously be storing the original unedited copies of the videos and will hand them over to leo whenever requested and will share the videos with the nsa at will as they are keen to do.

Utube = NSA. You blur, they unblur using anti-algorhythm
